Cowon Plenue R2

I guess most people will choose P2 over this since the price difference is less than 100 bucks in US
But that’s in US only. Here in Europe price for brand new P2 is still around 1200 mark

same integrated dac+amp units (CS43131) as in the D2...
does that leave any room for this player to sound different? or is it just gonna be the exact same sound with more features and better UI?

There's a lot of P2 and P2mk2 for sale on ebay etc. But I need the player to last at least 12hr (Long haul flight for instance). Changed the battery in my PM2 but still only get around 8hr. The R2 has 10way eq vs. The D2 6 way, more important than it seems for us EQ monkeys. Looks great in black too.

From the Cowon release notice:

"will be released in November, with a price of KRW 599,000 for the 128GB product"

On the XE currency site that equates to US$511 - the comment re "the 128GB product" maybe
a translation thing but infers maybe a product with more storage coming later???

@jmills8
Haha love it! I have a 26,000mah batt in my bag I can hook it up to.

I wish cowon would include a fast charging chip, that would help a lot.

Curious as to whats your current fave DAP? For sound quality only. I should be getting the cayin N6ii on the tour soon and from reading reviews Cayin is very musical, just like I get with my Cowon+eq.

2019 , so why 2.5 , why ?
Because Cowon is being really lazy. This is a mild reworking of the R in the same way D2 was a mild reworking of the D.

I don’t know, burn me at the stake, but I still like 2.5mm for balanced better. Everything is just smaller, and I’ve heard no aural benefits from 4.4mm. The only thing better about the bigger plug is that it’s easier to wire if you are building your own cables. That’s a for sure benefit.
Plus all my balanced stuff is 2.5mm. I don’t feel like switching over. I like that some DAPs have both on their devices.
The point that 4.4 is more sturdy, is a misnomer. I’ve never gooched a 2.5mm plug inside a player. I’ve bent one when I jammed my dap against a wall, but it would have probably bent the 4.4 too. In that case, I’d rather have the 2.5 adapter fail then have the strength of the 4.4 break the player.
