Thank you.
I am actually thinking of getting it from a friend in US, he will be coming in two months. I am thinking if I should wait that long or get it now paying that import fees.
Ah right, I guess if you can avoid the fees and get it in a few months then waiting and saving money for other gear is a good option :)

Inside the PM2:

I bought a PM2 here on headfi to see if I could replace the PCM1795 with a PCM1792A and possibly upgrade the opamps/caps. First look is promising regarding the DAC (see below) not much info available other than its pin and mode compatible.

Cowon use a modular DAC/AMP design (just not for the end users)

Very interesting is that they are using the Plenue 1 DAC/AMP board but with different Audio Hub, DAC and OPAMP. Also notice the system board is the same as the older Plenue M, so basically they made a new product out of 2 very good older ones and put it in a new case with a new name but for a lower price (lower R&D cost) win win for us.

P1
Audio Hub: WM8998 (incorrect? @Windows X)
DAC: PCM1792A
I/V LPF: OPA1612 x 2
Output/Buffer: OPA1612

PM2
Audio Hub: WM8804
DAC: PCM1795
I/V LPF: OPA1612 x2
Output/Buffer: AD8397

Its pretty much identical apart from 3 components on the audio board. the audio board is the same in both, just audio hub IC, dac and headphone opamp are different, pm2 headphone amp is better and with more power.
But the dac is better spec on the P1. So i'd conclude PM2 is a bargain.

DAC so far, struggling to find anything else that can be improved TBH, there is zero room when back in the case for any larger caps etc.
Complete newbie question: what do you use to de- and re-solder the DAC chips? Just a hand-held solder or something more complicated.

Dying to know how much the sound changes. Obviously not possible to do A-B comparisons but any impressions on differences before and after the mod?

I currently have an M2 and D2. Was initially thinking the D2 might replace it, but after longer listening I’m feeling like the M2 will be the keeper. I might follow in your footsteps and give modding a go.

Hot air smd rework station, mignifying arm/light, smd flux and beer

It's a real nice improvement, its like a Plenue 1 but with more power. Which is essentially exactly what it is now. I have a higher capacity battery on the way too :L3000:

I really like the PM2 sound , it gives something that 3.5K usd daps cant. One issue I always had was its battery life so I went to an audio shop and they added a 8,000 MAH battery and they modded the dap. So now it has a 11,000 MAH battery and the over all sound us slightly more detailed wider and bass is tighter but hits harder.

Wow, I really like how you guys mod the gear.
