Cowon Plenue M
Dec 22, 2016 at 9:17 AM Post #196 of 203
I am also curious about these two units (the Plenue 1 and the M). I have a pair of HD600 sennheisers, and I was wondering which which be better for it? I bought a Sony A17 which has incredible sound, but it just can't drive these headphones. I'd rather not have to buy an amp, if possible. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks~

Can't speak for the P1 but the M2 is a very good upgrade from the D, although battery life sucks. It beats all the Fiio's hands down (tried all current gens), dissapointed with their X7.The M2 has plenty of power, handles full size sennheiser pc350 with ease. The only players I have heard to get close were Paw gold and qp1r. The Onkyo was nice and flat, but lacked the excitement you can get from jeffect.

Agreed. The JetEffect is awesome. No DAP can match that and likely never will.

@wayeward

You can read the review on the P1 and see what headphones it can drive. Far as I can see it drives cans well per the reviewers but I don't have any of those cans, I only use IEM's on the P1..

Sorry for the late reply, thanks for the links! I think I finally understand how it worked (The Plenue M seems to have been their attempt at having a go at the mid high range market, while the Plenue 1 was for the true high end market).

Just thought I would add a comment on this player
Very few reviews or comments but for me I rate this better than the P1 or M2 for tonality

I have been collecting DAPs for many years and I still have this player in my top 5 despite many other players coming and going

Recommended as a great introduction to the medium high end sound

This is a warmer sounding player but not as warm as the m2
I rate this player on same level as calyx m, Ar-m2 and recently released Dethonray player

It is a shame more people are not aware that this DAP still holds its own

With over 24 DAPs still in collection this is still a great player - have an audition. If you get the chance now that resale prices are low

Paw Gold is thin sounding.
