Cowon Plenue D problems

Jan 15, 2017 at 7:54 PM Post #47 of 74
I transferred some songs today and now it is completely dead...the light comes on when plugged in but will not boot...any ideas???

When you are going to transfer songs to the Plenue D, you first have to turn on the player and then connect the USB cable to desktop or notebook.

I need some help with my brand new Cowon Plenue D. I have a 64GB Samsung micro SD card with 2400 songs on it. When I insert the card in my Plenue D and do a database update it only sees 470 songs. What is the problem? I put the same card in my A&K Jr. player and it sees all the 2400 songs. All of them are FLAC files. Also my Galaxy Note 4 can read and play all the 2400 flac files on the SD card.  Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks a lot,
Matt

Format the micro sd card with the windows tool and then format again using the formatgui program ( http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm ).

Hello
I bought a brand new Plenue D from Ebay.
I flashed the latest firmware (1.17) and I don't seem to have the weird audio issues you people mention in this thread.
However, I do have issues, and they're bad enough that I have stopped using it: the ******* touchscreen. Lord almighty, isn't it a piece of crap.
I literally can't pick it up again because of the pain of dealing with its abysmal touchscreen performance. What worries me is that I can't find other users reporting the same problem, so I'm starting to wonder it's just my device?

Basically, the scrolling is incredibly slow and unresponsive. Think of first generation, primordial touch screen phone slow. When I scroll through my library, not only the screen starts scrolling half a second after I swiped the screen with my finger, but it also behaves wildly after lightly tapping the screen during the scrolling in order to stop it: instead of stopping, it just pauses (quickly slows down) and then starts scrolling again after the light tap, as if it hadn't stopped completely yet.
Sometimes the screen scrolls the **** away just by removing your finger from the display. Generally, any kind of rapid touch movement is impossible. I have to fidget like a madman or to hold my finger on the screen at least for one second in order to really stop the scrolling. Like screen-tearing in v-unsync'd games, but vertically across the screen instead of horizontally.

I'm seriously considering to give this thing away.
Has any of you experienced similar issues?

Hi, I have a brand new Plenue D bought via ebay. It works on its own, playing the pre-loaded songs fine. Trouble is I cannot put anything on it as no PC will recognise it. I have tried on 2 different laptops and one desktop PC and they all say 'USB device not recognised'. A friend tried it on his Mac and it does recognise it. I have searched for the problem on the internet and on here and have not seen any posts with the same issue. Any ideas?

Ok, It works now. I took it to the IT department where I work and it did the same thing. Left it there for a couple of hours as I had to get back to work. When I came back it magically showed up on windows. It may be that it needed charging. Or something. I thought I had left it on charge for hours yesterday but there you go.

Ok so I brought a new Samsung Pro 128GB card and formatted as per instructions I found here; used SDformatter then guiformat setting to 32k cluster size.

I copied a few test files to the card and it works fine in the Plenu D
Next I tried copying a few more files across, approx 28GB, these copy fine and can play them from the card in Windows.
When i put the card in the Plenue it does a database update, takes a minute or two, then I can play some of the files, when I check the card back in Windows, now there is only 7GB of files.
The folders from the missing files are still there, but the files themselves are gone. The files were definitely there as I was able to play them direct from the card in Windows.
I have reformatted a number of times, no errors when formatting, same result.

From another thread here I tried copying with the card in the Plenu connected to USB, this always fails after a minute or two with a disk error, and usually borks the card requiring a format to fix.
I'm at a loss to explain this issue, is it the card or the Plenu???

edit to add: Have got the latest firmware and disabled my antivirus from scanning the card

Have you tried this particular card in another dap? I don't know how much you paid for the card, but some are for sure not what they are advertised to be, it may read 128gb but in fact not even close. At any rate try it in another dap if you can, also try loading as many songs as you can to possibly verify it's true capacity. Just a thought, i've purchased a card that claimed a certain storage capacity, but at the purchase price, had my doubts, and confirmed when trying to load a boat load of music. Could be just a bad card too. Good luck.

The packaging looked genuine enough, fully sealed etc, but I guess you can never tell.

And I can play the files on the card, through my computer, before I put it in the Plenue, but once I put it in it seems to delete them???

Will try copying a bunch of other stuff to verify capacity etc.

Topic created for the player Cowon Plenue D users to report any problems they are having with the device.

Problems solved:

1 - Noise During the exchange of track

I'm having a problem with Plenue D. The songs of the internal memory of the player during the exchange of track to another track are showing noise (very low), but this only happens when the screen is off. The noise is much weaker in the SD card , however it is still . It has a solution for this problem?

Firmware V. 1.14 fixed the problem

Problems to be solved:

1 - More skins options

Add more skins options for Plenue D. I would be very happy if I had more options. And I wish you had (if possible) any skin that owned a VU Meter (I attached a picture illustrating).

2 - Maximum number of files it's too small

After I bought a 128GB micro SD card for my Plenue D I noticed that the file limit is too small. Increase this limit in the next firmware

3 -Limit for reading micro SD cards up to 128GB

Many users are having trouble using micro SD card with 200GB capacity. People can copy the files to the card, they appear on the PC, but do not play when the Plenue D is being used.

Sorry if this in the wrong place but i need some help with the plenue d.
When i select an album from the album thumbnail page, the albums display in landscape orientation. On my screen there is a small black line middleish
of the screen. This line only appears through the album art selection/songlists in landscape orientation.Every other screen is fine in normal orientation so it can't be dead pixels.
Has anyone else got this black line or is it normal?.Many many thanks in advance. This is driving me nuts.

My barely over a month old Plenue D ran out of battery yesterday. I plugged it in, red LED came on indicating it charges, but none of the buttons responded. I assumed it was just too deeply discharged or something to boot yet. Waited a little. No response. Even when it's fully charged and the LED is green, nothing happens when I push either the power button or try the volume reset. Any suggestions, other than just sending it in?
