No it doesn't. Especially b/c there isn't really anything to argue about when it comes to matters of preference. I just found myself cringing thinking about the talentless Sid Vicious fumbling down those stairs while belching out My Way.

Do you know if Gary Oldman sang the song in the movie Sid & Nancy or if they dubbed Sid's track?

Rick Springfield's version of Sammy Hagar's I've Done Everything For You is much better. Sammy even admitted it in an old interview.

have to add to Johnny Cash's -> Ghost Riders and I also love Tori Amos' live cover of Purple Rain.

Marilyn Manson's Tainted Love video is good too

Agreed and I would add:

Johnny Cash - "Pocahontas" - original by Neil Young

The song "Pocahontas" is on the 5 disc "Unearthed" box set and is one of the outtakes from the American Recordings sessions.

For sure. When I hear it, I forget it's a cover it's so good. Really, it sounds like an extra track from "Bitter Tears".

Muse - House of the Rising Sun is an excellent cover, if not a bit brief.
Pixies - Head On. Better than the original by miles. One of my favorite Pixies songs.
Ryan Adams - Wonderwall. Why is it the brothers Gallagher don't get the song as much as Ryan Adams? I had no idea what the song was about until I heard this version. It's amazing.

David Bowie - Pin Ups album

Forgot about Bowies album which pays homage to his favorite 1960s UK groups, almost all of these 12 covers are as good or better than originals and Bowie was at the height of his Ziggy persona glam rock style when this was released, some of the groups covered:

Who - Can't explain + anyway anyhow anywhere
Them - here comes the night
Merseys - sorrow
Pretty Things - rosalyn
Easybeats - friday on my mind
Yardbirds - shape of things
Kinks - where have all the good times gone
Pink Floyd - see emily play
Etc Etc

Any song covered by Nouvelle Vague. Redoing songs is their forte, and the results are astounding.

Yeah. Couldn't resist though. Fit the occasion.
