Comfort mod: HD650 headband padding on the Pro 900
Jan 16, 2012 at 2:09 PM Post #31 of 77
Just wanted to update and say that I did perform this mod last week for my hfi-780. Don't have a camera for pictures, but I used the same method as Sorensiim. This mod completely fixes the only issue I had with my hfi-780 -- the top headband that felt like a knife cutting through my skull after 30 min to an hour. The HD650 pads eliminate the intense pressure put on the top of the skull when wearing the headphones. I haven't had much time to listen to my headphones since I've been studying so much, but I did manage to get a 4 hour continuous session in with the new headband pad on, and my head felt great afterwards Thanks again for the mod and tutorial!

Thanks guys, happy to help and it's very nice to see people actually performing the mod - It's so damn simple I can't believe I'm the first guy to come up with it

has anyone confirmed that this works with the hfi series? specifically the 580.

Works just fine with the 580 as well. I've done it with the 780 too.

Pro tip: They all use the same headband

Ordered from Sennheiser - one in stock, shipping today, one on backorder.  Going to put on my Sig Pro's and maybe the Pro900's.

Thanks for this great mod idea.

I just realised that I hadn't posted about doing this hack on the DT-770 AE!

I took off the Beyer headband and made a careful cut through the side of the padded section on the inside.

Out comes the Beyer foam, so I can put in the HD650 padding instead.

Et voilá! Super comfy Beyers with no visible cuts or scars!
