I've never understood what bass roll off is...?

This thread below will help explain. I was once very curious as to 'why' players have bass roll-off. At first I thought it was intentional. Take special note of ClieOS' posts.

I'm owner of c10 since yesterday and If anyone is interested couple of facts:

- Body is beautifully made, pics doesn't do it justice. Player itsef reminds me high end tv from 50's. Sits well in hand and it's light.

- UI is very simple and to be honest it's pretty much barebones. After powering up you see folder tree where you choose which files you want to play. After choosing you see play screen and  that's it. No cover cover support, no eq, no fm radio etc etc. The only options are screen brightness and play order (shuffle, folder etc) Evarything is very simple and intuitive.

- Slider works well. When you turn off the screen with power button you can only turn the volume down. If you for example turn the volume up by mistake nothing happens and after turning on the screen there is a message that volume is higher and you must accept it by pressing any button. Pretty good solution for avoiding unpleasent suprise.

- 128gb SD card formatted to fat32 works without a problem

- dont know about the power output but I've checked it with etymotic er4-pt and without the p to s adapter it's very loud on 30% volume, I prefer etymotics with c10 with the adapter to S  and it's very loud on about 60%) volume. Etymotics with p to s adapter sound to me dead on flat with C10 with very good base. Without the adapter they sound a little thin in the middle. Beyerdynamics dt150 sounds fine on 50% and T1's on 60-70% however with the latter bass can get a little bloated. If I didn'd knew how T1'a sound with proper amplification I would say they sounded great and there's still plenty of volume to spare.

Unfortunately I can't compare it to any other high end dap in terms of sound quality as I didn't care much about portables untill recently and right now I own only clip+, old cowon s9 and Htc One m8 (with which I've used etytmotics thus far without the p to s adapter and with added base in eq in poweramp). Can only say that c10 blows them easily out of the water in terms of sound quality.

I believe You got my unit from Milosz, am I right? My pics are couple posts above.

When you compare a bass heavy track using C10, Sansa Clip, Cowon S9 do you hear the C10 having any bass roll-off?

Using a track (hip hop for example) will give you a good idea.

Please try this and report back.

See if you can detect anything.

I was testing C10 for almost two weeks and compare it to TEAC HA-P90SD and Galaxy S6 Edge +. Bass roll off is the last thing I can say about it. Driving FLC8,  ATH-R70X and Pioneer HRM-7.

Nope, no roll off for what i can hear, With ety's most pronounced and deep bass from my portable sources. Better was only with my stationary setup with Hegel HD20 and Musical Fidelity X-can v2 with Amperex bugle boy tubes

the owners with the c10 you say it doesnt display artwork or anything but what about this picture

looks like one of the default images when no artwork is found

This small animation is displayed for every track no matter if theres artwork or not. If its playing then its animated, when you pause the turntable arm is moved outside and animation stops. No artwork support.

Funny thing that there's no firmware updates since the launch. Player works fine, does not freezes or anything however I thought that new funcionalities will eventually be added. Also no press reviews. No buzz around the player - too bad.
