I'm looking for some noise cancelling headphones for use in my dorm. It can be pretty loud sometimes, but if the doors are closed and music is on, it's not that bad.

Can anyone recommend some inexpensive noise-cancelling headphones?

I don't know about headphones but noise cancelling often comes with a little red light a set of batteries that tend to run out. I would suggest noise isolating IEMs instead. They don't offer the same experience but will definitely block a lot of sound. Etymotic Research are known for their noise isolation, the ER6is are great at blocking out sound and aren't terribly expensive but keep in mind, they're not the king of rendering your music either. I assume if you're only requirement is cheap, you really don't care much for sound quality.

Your best bet would be the Goldring NS1000. They're pretty cheap and don't sound bad at all for a noise cancelling headphone.

If I start travelling more by plane, I will buy a pair.
