Hi all I'm looking to upgrade to a set of noise isolating over-ear headphones. I am a college student who listens to music all the time, I also do a lot of traveling by plane. I listen to all types of music so I'm looking for solid overall value and function, somewhere around $100.

Thanks

I would suppose an active noise cancelling headphone would be your best option, if you are going to travel with it.

I, personally used my Sennheiser HD-250s when I was tired of my roommate being a fake drummer. I haven't tried them on a plane, for real estate reasons, but an IEM that worked great for my 15 hours in the air was the Etymotic ER-4S.

I disagree, I used to have some active cancelling over-ears and after hearing the "natural" isolation provided by good IEM's I think it's a superior option.  And more portable for traveling... just IMHO.
