I really like the sound signature of the Beyer DT770 600 ohm cans.  Just wondering, is there another closed-back HP in the sub-$250 price range that has better bass extension below 50 Hz?

The 770s roll off pretty fast in the <50 Hz frequency range.  Was listening to a song from the OSI - Blood CD tonight and some of the low frequency stuff was just missing.

Do the AKG K271 MKIIs have better bass extension?  Any other closed back cans that do better than the 770s below 50 Hz?

You could try another version of the DT770.  The 250 ohm version has quite a bit more bass.

Hmmm... not to my ears. Actually I found the 600 Ohm to be oh-so-slightly more pronounced than the 250. Go figure...

Both the M50 and D2000 will give you much greater quantity... maybe not necessarily quality. But that's a matter of opinion. You'll also get much more in the D5000 (but you'll pay much more too).
Maybe the D1001 or D1000?

Thanks all.  I'm definitely going to look at the Denon 5000s.
