Very nice Mozart quartets in this great box, although it's hard not to listen to Quatuor Mosaiques' Mozart when I'm in the mood for Mozart's SQ..

Yeah, the Bergs did a great set of the last 14 Mozart qts. Not easy to excell at both the Mozart and LvB quartets -- different tonalities and temperaments.

I'm all into Elias Quartet's Beethoven live recordings in Wigmore Hall..technically flawless and gutsy interpretations..especially the first violinist is quite something, although the other three play brilliant as well.

First quartet I heard was op.18-4, very interesting slides on the 1st violin and a sudden ritardando which blew my mind. No holding back but also beautifully soft spoken..

I own lots of Beethoven cycles, this particular quartet is special. Italiano, Takacs and Alexander are also in my top 5 for now ;)

The op 18 #6 is just plain hilarious. Just listen to that delightful 1st mvt. How the violins and cello play the main tune back and forth with mimicry. downright joyful.
