I have the Fiio M11+ that can output spdif on the 3.5 output. I am curious to try a simple 3.5 to 3.5 trs on the coaxial input of the mojo.
I can't use the link above because I believe it links to your orderlist
Thx
Sorry!

I am not sure if that's the right cable for M11. You have to check that. I don't know if you can damige anything by trying. I tested a regular 3.5 - 3.5 on my QA361 but it didn't work. But with DX90 it worked jus fine. They have different wiring.

Coaxial audio with 3.5mm can be a bit of a minefield if you don’t understand exactly what wiring arrangement is used at each end and how to achieve that. You can literally have two cables that look identical but one will work and the other won’t.

The M11 Plus uses a Fiio specific arrangement at the DAP end for coaxial out with a four pole TRRS but only two of the four poles are used. No other plug will work since it will not make a connection.

The Mojo end is a standard two pole TS mono since coaxial only uses two wires. Some cables will use a three pole TRS at the Mojo end but only two of the three terminals are used.

The simplest way to try coaxial from an M11 Plus to a Mojo is with the supplied 3.5mm to RCA coaxial adapter, a standard 75 ohm coaxial cable and an RCA to 3.5mm TS adapter. It is a messy set up but it will function perfectly and let you assess if it is worthwhile getting a dedicated cable.

The next level of refinement is a specific 3.5mm TRRS to RCA cable for Fiio DAPs from AliExpress and an RCA to 3.5mm TS adapter.

The next level of refinement for a one piece cable with no adapter is something like a Moon Audio 3.5mm TRRS to TS cable.

The two pole TS end is a standard set up and I use a Moon Audio cable with a Mojo, Gryphon and Diablo.

I will put some photos below for reference:

This post also contains explanations about coaxial cables and the connectors, which has helped Mojo owners.

I don't know about 'Mojo' but 'Mojo 2' can use all connections in a TRS jack. From the user manual,

Coaxial input (single input or dual data only) Connect compatible digital devices using a 3.5mm coaxial digital cable. Single coax: tip: signal, sleeve: ground. Dual data coax: tip: signal 1, ring: signal 2 sleeve: ground (for use with Hugo M-Scaler)

OK thanks.

M Scaler isn’t really on my radar or at a budget that my level of interest warrants so I was not aware of the dual data coaxial.

M Scaler - me neither. I just wanted to note that the Mojo 2 coax might try to read a signal on the 'ring' of a TRS connector depending what the other end of the cable was and how it was wired. It wasn't necessarily benign. Something to consider if you were making up or modifying a cable.

Good point.

Two things I wished Mojo2 had ... 1. Lights off function. Dimmed is ok but they really do not to be on all the time. 2. Some EQ presets, perhaps two for different headphones.

Otherwise, super happy.

So if you read this Chord and if this is technically possible via FW update, please give me this for Easter and I will praise your baby everywhere

Actually, I'm doing this already. I'll send you a chocolate bunny instead, promise.

I would have liked the possibility of being able to quickly switch ON/OFF the EQ with a button, for an A/B with and without EQ. This thing is missing a lot
But it sounds fantastic. I wonder what all the features people are wanting would add to the cost, and what it might take away from the sound.

Does anyone know if I'm better off with this (Startech PCI-E USB-C card??) or the Topping HS01 for eliminating signal noise and jitter??

My setup for listening to music is as followed:

Qobuz on a mid-range gaming PC
Chord Mojo 2
Sennheiser HD650

You don’t need to worry about jitter with chord dacs but if you’re using a gaming pc I highly recommend using optical.
