It's about £10,500 or 16000 dollars.

Seems like adequate time to bring up dCS's Vivaldi stack which is $108,496 or one could exclude the $39,999 CD/SACD transport from it if not necessary and get just the DAC, upsampler, and the clock. :) (jk) Hugo with its features, portability, versatility, and more seems like a good deal.

He asked about Berkeley RD score so I answred him it's 16000$ but you get what you paid for .
[/quoteTBH I really don't think any dac is worth that sort of money.I think the Hugo tt at £3000 is way over priced, and I'm sure that project xxxx will be way over priced as well .Don't get me wrong I'm sure your dac sounds fantastic and you love it,but does it sound £9000 worth better than a Hugo or a 2qute,i think not my friend.

No offense but I'm not sure the "that's not worth it, my friend" posts about how much some one paid for xyz gets us anywhere.  Value is in the eye (and often more importantly the wallet) of the buyer.  Moreover, if he/she is well connected in the industry and then knows how to flip these kinds of purchases after a period of time, the final cost of investment may surprise you.  Me, I would not spend big $$ on digital since it is still in early evolve stage, but I may spend wayyyyy more than you think is wise on analog gear (amps, preamps, speakers).  It's not a great debate, though.   It's more or less personal.  My $.02

All I'm saying is the Hugo and 2qute are great dacs for the money. The Hugo tt is way over priced and only should be about £2000.As for project xxxx, well I'm sure it's gonna be fantastic, but i think chord will be asking for silly money for it,anywhere from £5000 to £6000 when really it should be about £4000.My question is Ted does a £10,500 dac sound £9000 BETTER than a £1400 dac.And are people being ripped off and mislead by hifi companys?

That answer can only be determined by one's own ears ; )

If i could pull it off, I would buy a TT. I was blown away by it at Canjam. On the other hand, I have a tube amp and a Hugo already so should be happy. I am portable way more often these days anyway.

Really though, is the difference between the Hugo and the Hugo TT that big? I heard that the differences are not so big. Sounds better especially with power-hungry headphones a bit but not by too much.
Since I'm not a big fan of balanced setups anyway, I would be happy with a set-up like Schiit WYRD to Hugo then to a Cavalli amp (more like happy for my wallet I mean).
