How is it apparent that Chord controls the prices country to country with different currencies, duties, fees etc?

It is apparent because the distributor in New Zealand says so. Yes, I asked them. I don't think they are lying.

I would be grateful to Chord if they explain why they are charging buyers in New Zealand much more than they do elsewhere. There has to be a reason for this.

You are asking or you are saying?
Hugo 2 and Dave have different remotes as far as i am aware ,not only design wise but the protocol is different.

I am saying...i have the original larger remote and i got myself the smaller dave remote which looking at the picture is the same remote used with the new hugo 2

One dealer in one country changes his price on one item dramatically in 24 hours, tells you that Chord controls all prices in all countries regardless of currency fluctuations, tarriffs, import duties and taxes and you believe him.

Got it.

You also said the Hugo 2 battery will last only 18 months which is only as long as the warranty that Chord gives.

Got it.

Regarding the battery: "You can expect the batteries to last at least as long as Chord warranties them for." Chord must have a reason for a shorter warranty period on batteries than other parts.

Regarding the dealer: I am still waiting for Chord to chime in on this, but until then I will believe the dealer. Also, I have no information on all countries. All I am talking about is the situation in New Zealand. If you think the dealer is pricing himself out of the market on purpose I suspect you are wrong.

In UK I think warranty is 3 year but Chord have said they should last 10 year with normal use when I asked about Mojo so can't see the Hugo 2 being worse battery tech.

Greetings to all. I am new to head-fi and have specifically joined to be able to post on this thread. I first found it in January when I was looking for something, anything on the Hugo2. It says a lot about the passion of this community that there has been 250+ pages on a product that a few had seen or touched. I pre-ordered mine in early March with the promise of a trade in for my existing Hugo which I loved. So in all, 5 months of high anticipation and high expectations. In my experience, high anticipation plus high expectations equals disappointment! So when finally got the Hugo2 home last night the excitement was palpable tempered by the fact that it couldnt possibly be as good as I was hoping.
I was wrong!
1st notes of the 1st song and wow! It is significantly better than the Hugo for all of the reasons already posted. I am using a Stax SR 570/SRDX setup and also have a pair of PM1s that I will try today. The music is on a Mac mini , 17000 tracks in all, mostly Apple lossless and some hi def. I will keep you posted but thanks for your passion and thanks for letting me join.

There are four small buttons. Filter, input, X-PHD and on/off(power)
Filter is to choose between different sound signatures.
Input is to select the input type. usb, coax, optical or bluetooth.
X-PHD is crossfeed. said to be cool. not quite sure what it gives. read more in two pages user manual under 'important information'
Power button and this option is even smart.

fully controllable via the remote control.

But I still fear to start it up. Am I really certificed and allowed to have such a great experience. I mean, until now, the design and features and all the PR is top notch.

Can anyone who has received their hugo 2 comment on how close they feel the performance is to the Dave?

Early indications are that it is a decent somtep up from the hugo 1/mojo but how close does it get to the dave?

Congrats Bob on your new Hugo 2. Did you order the black or silver version? I ask because I ordered black version back in Feb and still haven't got it. Dealer says later this week or next.

@musicday your posts are making me want to take out a big @ss loan... lol
Thanks, i would much advise to sell other gear you have and buy Hugo 2 if possible.
Taking a loan, you may not fully enjoy the DAC until you pay all back.
All in all, i think this is really worth it and definitely delivers on the music side way more than someone expects.
Great investment for all the audiophiles and music lovers IMHO as mentioned by me before.
