One thing : definitely both are very good with one being better than the other. Very different products, one is 80 gr less powerful and the other is 450 gr, full of power can drive any headphones up to 800 ohm, that has to be taken into consideration.
You won't go wrong with either one IMHO.

I also own a Tera player and will be interested in comparing. I suspect your assessment is probably correct.

I found that Chord have updated Hugo 2's user guide on their website. I'm not sure when they did this but I'd downloaded it ages ago and hadn't realised it had changed. Last night I was looking at the original version I'd downloaded trying to dim the lights on the unit; it wasn't working. I hadn't looked at the hard copy in the box so I (eventually!) downloaded the latest version and saw that they've changed a few things, such as which buttons to press simultaneously to dim the lights. A minor thing but I thought I'd mention it in case anyone has the same experience. I can imagine that many of you, like me, eagerly downloaded and studied the user guide when it first appeared and may not have realised that it's been updated.
Cheers

Lithium batteries seem to last a very long time, but with Chord, this may be even longer, with perhaps 10 years or more mentioned regarding the work they did with Mojo and Hugo's battery.

I will wait upon Rob for a definitive answer, but the number "ten years" has been used.

Based on what Rob says the battery will last very long long time (like forever) when using Hugo2 in desktop mode.

For anyone interested and has a limited budget, the M2s works really well connected to Hugo 2 and sounds great too.
Wonderful pair that won't break the bank.
The more i get used to the sound, the more I want to listen to this marvelous piece of equipment.
A truly reference DAC that is future proof.
Can't wait for the release of 2Go module to take this experience to a whole new level.

Based on the available data (IE no user reports of any batteries failing), I estimate that the battery will have a life of at least 10 years.
