Chord Electronics - Hugo 2 - The Official Thread

no as i live in a small flat and before that in residential study type accommodation that was the whole reason why i got into high fidelity headphone listening to start with. this continues. no speakers. i did have a dual turntable//nad amp//celestion 3 speakers when much younger.

I am actually impressed that you have the wherewithal to buy a Hugo2. At your stage of life I was saving towards things like property, car and travel. If you can save money, invest it and avoid borrowing too much when you are young you will be rewarded later in life.

I am impressed that you have done so well for yourself that you can afford something like a Hugo2. I have the cash for it, but it would still make a dent that I am not comfortable with.

Would someone stop me from this decision. I found a used hugo for $650.
Hugo 2 is coming with a $1800 price tag.

I need someone to explain how to not buy the hugo. -_-

Isn't Hugo2 $2,300 not $1,800? That should have made your decision easier!

1) Incisive= WTA..256FS........White    (FS=femtosecond?)

2) Incisive HF+...WTA..256FS?...Green  (should normally run on white or green for max. accuracy and timing unless the warm mojo sound is desired)  (white and green represent 256 WTA filter technology taken from dave) (HF+option green eliminates high freq. distortion...and?)

3) red and orange...double mojo fpga processing speed? 16FS WTA. smooth sound=orange (mojo). red=mojo high freq. roll off eliminates high. freq. distortion..and? warmer//softer sound on red and orange but lower resolution and timing accuracy than on white and green...?

4) this is by no means meant to be 100% accurate just my understanding based on what i've read. I welcome any corrections here especially where ?'s appear. as someone with no technical background i would like to have a good level of understanding of the hugo 2 as far as every day useage is concerned as a minimum.

thanks to all MK

FS: Frequency Sampling
fs: femtosecond
WTA:Watts Time Array (Interpolation filter)

16FS or 256FS means at max or when considering an initial FS rate of 44.1kHz/48kHz.

$650 seems very cheap for a Hugo - is it one of the eBay or Amazon offers that states 'contact us first before ordering'?

If you can buy the Hugo 2 for $1800, then grab it, before the deal gets blocked by the Chord distributor.

16FS -> 768kHz (16*48) as maximum rate.
If your initial rate is 192kHz then it will be 4FS (not 16).
Second WTA filter multiplies until a maximum rate of 12.288MHz
This is my understanding. I may be wrong .

I apologize to all,

It was 1800 GBP not dollar. You guys were right, it is in the $2300~
The used Hugo is 650$ as agreed with its owner who is parting from it.

I think I will take a long breath before hugo 2 arrives. I still have Devialet amp to pass the time until then.

Offtopic: Meanwhile, I need to go and audition Revel F208 vs Focal 936 for my speaker upgrade from ls50.

Correction, WTA filter=Watts Transient Aligned filter

@Emerald Core, I am not expert but ls50 vs those two multi driver floor standers . I believe you must be having a big room for listening. imho for small to medium room a quality bookshelf may be a better option. I found concentric drivers in kef speakers are very good for accurate imaging .

That sounds more realistic if it is UKP rather than USD.
£1800 is the retail price for Hugo2
£650 for a used Hugo sounds like a good deal.
