Did the same, just the other way around. Works just fine.
Me too. No problems so far 😊

I have the Dave rca outs going into the high-pass filters in front of the FrankenWoo II, and the xlr feeding the SVS wireless modules which connect to the two subs.

I have a question about the DAVE and HDCD playback. I've managed to buy after many years of searching a NOS Vincent HDCD player as I have a collection of HDCD's. The Vincent has the usual XLR and phono outputs and at the moment the XLR's plug into my Pathos Inpol ear. The Vincent has a digital coax output and I'm wondering if the HDCD output would be cancelled out if I use the digital out and send it into the DAVE.

I was under the impression that DAC manufacturers have to pay royalties in order to be allowed to decode HDCD. So I didn’t think Chord DACs support HDCDs. I think most of us just rip the HDCD with a decoder so it’s saved as a 24-bit 44kHz file. I know it’s not really a practical solution for you. On the other hand, I’ve compared decoded and non-decoded HDCD tracks. And I have to admit, the difference is not huge. I mean you’re just getting slightly more dynamic range in the upper registers. So 16-bit vs 20-bit 44kHz.

Thanks for the reply. I'm more than happy with the current set up as the sound I'm experiencing at the moment is something I've been wanting for a very long time and I enjoy playing the CD's and I'm happy to keep the DAVE for streaming Amazon HD content etc.
Below is the spec of the CD player=-
VINCENT CD-S1.1

High End HDCD Player

The CD-S1.1 CD player from the Vincent Power Line is manufactured using hybrid technology and processes the signals using 6N16 tubes, which are partly responsible for the unmistakable sound of this device. A Sanyo drive is responsible for the clean scanning of the CDs. The Sanyo DA11 chip is responsible for reading the data. The PCM1796 converter from Burr-Brown then takes over the digital processing. This makes 24bit/192kHz playback possible. The result is improved dynamics and more precise playback. The analog signal is then processed fully symmetrically. Two 6N16 tubes work in the signal path and give the sound a certain tube charm. The analog signal can then be output via XLR or cinch. A CD player for all loud and quiet sounds. With headphone connection.

Ive read that HDCD uses a dithering encoding method to compress 20bit into 16bit and uses gain to amplify low level information.

So in essence a HDCD stream needs decoding. Something that the player should be doing and outputting just standard (20bit?) PCM to the DAC.

If anyone is interested, I just posted a ton of Chord gear on USAM.

Chord Dave (black)
Chord Blu MKII (black)
Chord Company Sarum T Super ARAY XLR Interconnect (Pair)
Chord ChordMusic XLR Cables (Pair) - the ultimate pairing with Dave
Sean Jacobs DC4 / ARC6 Power Supply for Chord Dave

Let me know if anyone is interested!

I also have 2 Chord Ensemble stands in black (medium height) and a black/nickel in large height. My username on USAM is the same as on here.

Aries Cerat, but it takes a whole different price point to beat it.
The Helene with the tube stage is around the same pricepoint as Dave.

You should hear a Dave powered by LiFePo4 energy. Im just blown off my socks😀

Hi! I have a nice digital cable perfectly compatible with Chord dave or Hugo tt2. The digital input connector of S/PDIF for dave and tt2 is BNC, but most streamer or CD often provide a RCA output connector. I have a Wireworld Platinum Starlight 7 BNC to RCA, which perfectly solve this problem(Without using any adaptor). If anyone interested, welcome to PM me. Thanks.

My Dave had an SJ psu.

I think the Helene should be much more expensive then it is. It's not really a comparison. I'm not knocking the Dave at all. It's an incredible dac. A giant killer.

Just use the adaptor, or ger a streamer with BNC output. The adaptor is fine, as long as you can not think about it, in this hobby we obsess over nonsense sometimes. No offense.
