I suspect I am in the camp where if one needs to ask how much is the Ultima dac then one cannot afford it!

I do wonder how it can be "marketed", since it will probably have less than 1 million taps, making it fall into the trap of "HMS + DAVE is better", let alone "QMS + DAVE is ..."

I'm guessing with the Ultima it'll have one box for the DAC, one box for the Quartet Scaler which it'll come with, and another box will be the power supplies, or it may be two power supply boxes, one for the Quartet and one for the DAC. It's going to be VERY expensive . The trolls are going to lose their minds over that one, especially the $50 chi-Fi trash DAC is all you need crowd. I can't wait to see the meltdown.

Eh... pretty big difference between what one can afford and what one thinks worth spending. I can afford the HE-1 but won't ever be buying it (as good as it can be). Same with the Ultima DAC, which is why the cost of it and the Quartet will matter to me.

Yea I want to know what the price is, it's how things work in the real world. Being able to afford it and inquiring about price are two very different things.
