CHORD ELECTRONICS DAVE

The Zenith has a very good soundstage that the 2go/2yu does not. Everything is tighter. The timbre is good. I'd say the biggest difference is in the soundstage, following the noise.
The great benefit of the 2go is its extreme compactness, but you know that.

I sold the Zenith 2 weeks ago because I realized that I almost didn't use it anymore, I find the sound of the PC with Audirvana more "funny". I hope I get the chance to try an Antipodes at home, they are raved about.

Obviously these are personal impressions,
hope i was helpful.
Very helpful, thank you. I'm just exploring streaming options at the moment to put in front of my Dave.

Try a simple wire to dave and grounding and its gone.it comes from the display chip thingy icw the unshielded rca input and prob some noise that bounces in that kind of situation. But thats were groundings are for so fixed.
Bingo. Right on the money. Sound went away 100%. Sounds very nice. Not sure if all Dave's could benefit in earthing it to the chassis. Thanks! :)

Someone should just put the Dave in a new properly sized and dampened case and separate all the internal modules in their separate compartments. While at it they can toss out the $14 SMP and install a proper power supply (SMP or Linear should both be fine) - maybe the dac won’t sound thin, anemic and unmusical with a real power supply and better electrical noise isolation

What are your favorite DACs? I'm curious. Would like to check them out. Thanks.

On measurements it's just possible to resolve it, but you are looking at something comparable to the FFT noise floor, so insignificant.

Nobody has ever reported hearing it though, and that's consistent with the measurements. This sounds like an issue solely with the Feliks - perhaps a grounding or RF issue. Perhaps the Feliks is picking up EMC multiplexing noise direct from the display via the air.
Just wanted to give you an update on this. I grounded the Dave and the LCD high pitched whine at very high volumes completely disappeared.

Keep the power supply in order, with a dedicated meter only for the Hi Fi system, keep the wiring in order.... Take care of every shape
Of mechanical vibration and keeping as far as possible the Dave from Mscaler made me reach an almost definitive result .... At least for a few years! 🙈
🙈

How do you ground Dave, to one of BNC or directly to case?
Bnc, case does not matter its all on the same plain ground.

I noticed this as well. I just used one of the XLR case screws as you did. BNC works np

Nice setup! Which power cord is that for the Dave you're using? Thanks!

FWIW, no new DAVE any time soon. In this video, Rob Watts states that the product they are coming out with next is an Ultima DAC costing around $100k!:

$100k? I will not get that, at some point it gets silly and if that's the price I am not even looking at it.
