Well as a brand stop selling it than?

Either that or Chord should come clean and communicate disclaimer about which functions actually work reliably and let buyers decide if it's worth it to them to take a chance (i.e. MDP SD poly hotspot streaming works perfectly and I would buy new Poly again even at full price just for that functionality even after knowing about all the problems with other functionality - sound quality is that good it would be worth it to me). But I admit that I have very high tolerance for niche products like this that require a lot of special handling especially after dealing with the Tera player for example, where I had to actually convert all my music to wav to be able to even listen to it at all - still to this day that was by far the best purchase I have ever made given how much I used Tera and enjoyed the great sounding music comming our of my pocket during my long work commutes over many years - so dealing with quirky device and crazy one man developer/support Charles Altmann (who got banned from many of his own threads for actually insulting cusomers) was still absolutely worth it in the end - because nothing else existed that would come even close to match the sound quality of that device and use scenario I wanted - as a matter of fact I still think that's the case even today for that specific use case.

Poly likely works for a greater majority of people (Chord has a retail distribution model) and it sells.

If you bought it from a brick and mortar retail shop, the shop will help you troubleshoot. If you choose to buy it online and the retailer chooses not to help you, that's on them. The reason why I buy from local shops is the service. Part of their existence is to ensure the products I buy from them work as intended. And, I'll likely get a bit of a discount too being a frequent customer.

The likely issues with Poly and networking are not due to just the Poly, it is also due to the network hardware broadcasting the WiFi. Add to that the gradual increase in WiFi protocols and standards. The finicky nature of the Poly to work with networks is the issue. Chord itself doesn't have a desire to troubleshoot yours or anyone else's network. A very poor attitude from a company, but that's what it is.

Chromecast support and Spotify connect have little to do with networking and more to do with software and the inability to provide those services.

Unless you bought poly at the beginning, or read this thread , those proposed features are long forgotten.

I bought day one and am still waiting, Stop making excuses for audio OEMs that dont deliver. Chord is one of many

Facts. Not excuses. I agree Chord did a crappy job and have stated as such. I was replying to the question why it is still being sold despite not living up to expectations.

I promise you when a Chord brick and mortar retailer sells a Poly, Chromecast and Spotify connect are no where mentioned or promised. My local shop knew nothing of those features.

I will state again. The Poly is what it is. Either sell it and move on, or learn to live with it. Chord doesn't care about this thread anymore. Railing against me or others who like the poly will not change Chord. And, most importantly, because I like the poly and it works well for me doesn't make me a Chord apologist/fanboy.

First off don’t think for a minute you can tell me what to do with a product I purchased. If you are happy with half baked products good for you.
This hobby has turned into an apology tour for OEMs and I refuse to accept it.

Would be nice if we all together could keep bringing this up and force chord electronics to do something about it. At least it would be nice if we could force Chord at least to answer this thread.

I don't know why you are targeting me with your frustration.

I couldn't care less what you do with your poly or your "OEM apology tour" feelings. But, I'm not going to accept you painting me as an "apologist for Chord" when I've stated numerous comments to the contrary. Turn whatever it is your feeling to Chord support and stop taking it out on me.

There should be some Chord people on forums like this and the fact there is silence is saying a lot (I would be shocked if they are not at least reading it but at this point probably think it's hopeless to try to defend the product).
Chord used to be very active on this thread, initially it was John Franks but then Matt Bartlett took over.
Unfortunately during the covid pandemic, there were many stressed audiophiles and Poly owners, and a lot of angry, insulting posts were directed at Matt and Chord.
Eventually things reached the point where John and Matt decided to close their Head-Fi accounts and walk away from this forum.
The moderators removed posts on several occasions, to restore some sense of decorum.

Freedom of speech used without any restraint, can have negative consequences.
Now everyone has to email Chord Support, rather than get a quick, direct answer via this thread.

That is quite alarming. For a streamer that only supports Qobuz/Tidal through UPnP/DLNA (which is bad enough), it doesn't even do a good job at it ?
I use UPnP/DLNA all the time and it's mostly fine.
The issues when they do happen aren't really about the UPnP/DLNA implementation, more about it's quirkiness* regarding handling network connections if everything is not exactly as the Poly expects it to be.

*ie crapness

One of the programmers of Poly walks into a bar and orders 1 beer, 5 beers, 1000000 beers, 0 beers, -2 beers and goes home happy.
A Poly user walks into the same bar and orders a Vodka Martini... the barman freezes then the bar collapses.

Thanks. I am glad to hear that.
I am currently using Mojo2 with Wiim mini. It has been working flawlessly for me.
I have just ordered Poly at a discount price (still 4x the price of Wiim mini ;-)). I hope Poly will give me the same joy + convenience (no more optical cable)

Currently using my poly (with outdated firmware that I can't update, but I think that has been covered extensively ) with Roon, and I'm pretty happy. I switched to Roon basically so that I could have a nice experience playing music to the poly. But I do find Roon quite expensive for what it does, and if I can ditch it, that would be great.

I am curious what others are using to play music to the Poly over wifi? Is Roon king here, or are there options I don't know about? I want to centrally host my music, and would like a nice UI to browse and play. Music metadata would be very nice. And integration with a streaming service (any) would be a big plus.

I have a lifetime Plex pass, but PlexAmp does not play to the Poly unfortunately. And I don't really know of any other potential alternatives. Is that it, or am I missing somethning?

cheers!
