Chinese / Asian Brand Info Thread (On or Over Ear Headphones)

Only way to know the truth about bass or QC is being able to compare both pair. I don't know if fake Takstar exist too....what I know its that I pay mine 60$ and that they have more bass than Audio Technica M50 as well as all Superlux I own. First I prefer the ISK HF-2010 over them but now its different, mids are better with PRO82, only thing where 2010 beat them is in soundstage (open back).

And for selled ass hyping, i'm the witchs hunters of those....don't think any of the reviews I read are one of them (have a black list of some savvy reviewers or hypers)

I don't own M50, but I do have the HD668B and the HD681 EVO, and the Pro 82 I have (bought second hand, so I don't know which variant it is) definitely have less bass than the HD 681 EVO for sure... it's not even close. On the other hand, they are extraordinarily comfortable and quite clean sounding to my ears.

Yeah, I forget the EVO, was talking about 668B, 681 and 660. Will compare them with the EVO....
But didn't you hear any bass and sub bass ? I begin to suspect the AK4490 paired with the Burson V5iD really do the magic here.
With Xduoo XD-05 it sound incredible to-my-ears.

@Omega17TheTrue
Well, yes, I will only judge with my eyes to love the look of a house as well as my ears to judge the look of the sound. But if I want to repair a headphones, true, my ears will be less usefull than a proper knowledge in electronic or sound engineering. I'm not building anything here....for more factual aspect there the frequencies graph wich show quite a present bass for example. Anyway, just here to share my enthusiasm about how amping pairing can positively affect the sound drastically.

Choice in chifi headphones are quite small, now i'm sure more than ready to try something better than HF2010 and PRO82 by big margin. Still waiting for supreme one in 100-200$ price range. Any suggestions?

I personally am leery of paying that much for Chi-fi without really good recommendations. Especially considering how good of a headphone you can get for under $100.

Most of the positive $100-$200 Chi-fi headphones I've seen are the following:
Hifiman Edition S
Hifiman HE400a
Hifiman HE400i
Hifiman HE4XX
MSUR n650

Asian headphones there is a wider range of good when considering Japanese headphones in this price range though.

Nice choice, look like Hifiman is the brand for above 100$ headphone even if I read some QC issues, but that occur as well with there flagship headphone so...must admit I will have to finally give a try to this HE400. Is there a difference between the 3 versions? If so, Wich one the best?

MSUR make me paranoid, like Blon there too much DIY version of it....the B7 was an immense disapointment.

And i'm open for ''asianFI'' too. I search something with excellent imaging, thick impactfull but not boomy low, fowards but wide sounding mids, and good level of details that not need to be analytical if it mean musicality will suffer from it.

Any TAKSTAR PRO82 owner here?

Well, I don't know what happen with mine but they now sound miraculously good......and this is since I change Opamp of my DIY Xmos AK4490 DAC-AMP for a Burson Audio V5iD (do it as well in my Walnut V2S with as well extreme sound upgrade). I guess those 2 was meant for each others....at first I find the Pro82 sounding too fowards and having a weak bass. Now, soundstage is quite wide but especially deep, and bass impact have improved alot and never distort (yes, it was distorting at high volume before).

It's really a revelation for me. God is in they Opamp? Don't know, but now the PRO82 are my favorite headphones.

Just wanna share this so people that think PRO82 sound bad know there hope cause yes they are very sensible to the amping of audio source.

What you have experienced here is called "synergy", and is critical for getting the best out of Pro 82.
Pro 82 is incredibly transparent, on a level that rivals electrostats. What you hear with Pro 82 is what your sound chain produces, and of course - how well your music is mastered:
About synergy
Comparison of DACs/Amps

I must be really unlucky since none of my 30 or so different sources reproduce sub bass then

Strangely enough both the HE560 and HD800S has quite nice bass with several of them, the Pro82 must be a lot more "transparent".......

400s is the easier to drive version of the 400i, as well as some subtle differences in sound sig, I only had the i version. You can search up 400s vs 400i. Haven't read much on the 4xx other than that its a MassDrop exclusive that's well done. Either way, switching to Sheepskin Brainwavz pads really helped when I had the 400i.

...The Pro82 always seemed about 50/50:
  • Half of the people love them and say they are amazing
  • The other half say they sound like crap
...

50/50???

The most vocal group of people posting negative opinions in the Pro 82 thread are the people who don't own Pro 82.
As you can see from the picture above, those who own Pro 82, are quite happy with it.

Well updated my personal info for what I got in recently and what I got coming. Although just now I got in a Lasmex L85 headphone. Has the same headbands as the bosshifi headphones, but with different cups. I must say that I quite like them. Comfy out of the box, good build quality, and it fits good. Earpads are a tad bit hot, and a tad bit small for my big ears (normal ears would be fine). That is about the only complaint I have on these. Sound similar to the B8's I have but without the angled drivers and in open format. Will have to do some A/B comparisons on it later, but I quite like them. I picked them up from ebay through a make an offer for cheap. They were like NIB and came with everything.

Reason I'm posting about the Lasmex in here even though I know it is labeled to be sold from Germany, is that all the parts are the same or similar to parts found on other known Chinese headphones. So thinking they are made in China for a German company to their specifications. Wouldn't be the first time for that :D

Yeah, I find a good pairing for PRO82, and yeah lot of peps are happy with them, including me.
Strangely I always use them amped even at 32ohm...think its to smooth them out in some way and make them more weighty in others.
I mean....pay them 60$....I take this in relativity too.
A keeper for sure.

PS: I listen to them right now with my XD05 with stock OPamp and im focking WoWed.

humblepie mentioned hifimans and I too can recommend he400i. I have not heard other hifiman headphones but he400i is the best sub $200 headphone I've ever had. If sennheiser hd6xx is the same as original hd600 I would propably take those over he400i. It's been a long time since I've had hd600 but that is how I remember it. I'm quite sure I would prefer he400i over dt880/dt990 and k701. Then again those too were sold before I got he400i.

When I'll get My pro82 we'll see If spl phonitor can lure out some subbass. It did find bass on akg k340, notoriously basslight headphone and often considered hardest to drive headphone right after hifiman he6 and akg k1000. Really eager to get My hands on pro82. These mixed opinions are too much. There has to be patch variations, qc issues or everyones nuts

@peter123 do you have black or silver version? I ordered black.

I understand that this comes as a surprise for you but the rating on Aliexpress is for the transaction and not the actual product....
