I bought a Schiit Modi3 a year or two ago to see if the company was good. I'm disappointed and holding off on any more purchases. The DAC was sent back twice with a defective MoBo. All in all, this $120 DAC cost me $30 of repairs by shipping it back to the company. I expected a gesture, at best an upgrade, but no such thing but a one-liner, your Schiit has shipped! Yeah, real excited about it.

I wanted to buy other things but the after-sales services leave me cautious if I have to spend 20% more of its price to be repaired.:disappointed:

My least expensive DAC/amp is the FiiO KA3 (ESS). IMHO very good value.

I have a short lightning cable to my iPhone6, driving my 7Hz Timeless with a 4.4mm balanced cable from Meze. A good application for my daily walks.

There isn't a single planet in the galaxy where this is a cheap beginner DAC.
But in context it is cheap. I've just spent £4K on a new DAC, so £1K for the entry level Denafrips R2R is a steal.

Sorry, but more than 99.9% of the global population disagrees with you.
Let's be realistic.
