Cayin RU6: R-2R USB Dongle DAC with Head-Amp

I am looking to get this device for my iPhone. Would you be able to give some ideas on its power consumption and battery drain please?
I'm not an iPhone user, however, I can get around 8.5hrs continuous play time with RU6 connected to my LGV40 (from 90% battery level) on High Gain and OS mode with my DT770 (250Ω). Brand new battery. Don't know if this helps?

The current output on iPhone is limited so if you use the RU6 with high volume (around 8x, I do not remember the exact number since I sold the RU6), the clipping phenomenon appears.

My iPhone 6 does not have the power to drive the RU6. I use the RU6 mainly from my iPad Pro (with USB-C).

I use a FiiO KA3 with my phone.

What headphones or IEMs you planned to use here? You need to provide more information before we can estimate realistically.

I use it with my iphone 14 pro and the OE cable recommended before - the battery drain is around 10% every 1.5 hour around 60 of volume and high gain.
I have a 13PM and have similar drain 10% every 1.5hr around 56Vol and high gain.
Thank you all for your replies. I’ll stick with the apple dongle

I mean your wish but I would certainly say you’re missing out.

Simgot EA500 and Yanyin Canon
Your iphone will provide enough power to RU6 with these earphones, you'll unlikely encounter any clipping phenomenon with these earphones.

This is a design requirement of R-2R DAC, we have provided a detailed explanation in the opening post of this thread.
Thanks for the explanation. Just to double-check, this is normal and appears on all units?

If so, and if I intend to use it in a hifi system with an integrated amp, what would be the maximum volume level without distortion?

iPhone user here, 12 Pro Max. Clipping drove me nuts for about the first hour, couldn’t use volume over about 60 on most tracks. Switched from 4.4 to 3.5 as well disabled OS. Can play as loud as I like (well beyond enjoyable levels) now without clipping. Interesting but true.
Driving Oracle Mk IIs no problem
