I'd love to hear some first impressions as well. Maybe @twister6 and @Currawong will be generous and drop a few lines...

Great Reviews! Very interesting. Will you compare the N8ii with the other R2R DAPs such as N6ii+R01 and RS6? Would like to see how nutube+d/s chips vs R2R dac. Thanks!Midnight here, just finished and published my First Look N8ii review. Will have to get up early to drive to CanJam NYC, so dropping it off now to share my first look detailed impressions after spending about a week with this new flagship N8ii dap from Cayin. Enjoy the read, and if you are attending the show, make sure to find some time to audition it
I second that. In the end I wanna know one thing: Is it the best DAP in the world now?Great Reviews! Very interesting. Will you compare the N8ii with the other R2R DAPs such as N6ii+R01 and RS6? Would like to see how nutube+d/s chips vs R2R dac. Thanks!
Please. Comparisons with N8 and R01 especially welcome, and indeed A02 & C9.Great Reviews! Very interesting. Will you compare the N8ii with the other R2R DAPs such as N6ii+R01 and RS6? Would like to see how nutube+d/s chips vs R2R dac. Thanks!
I guess there will be a clash of titans between N8ii vs LP6/7 in the coming weeks/monthsI second that. In the end I wanna know one thing: Is it the best DAP in the world now?
That'll be all about the sound. From a UI/UX/speed perspective it's a non-starter.I guess there will be a clash of titans between N8ii vs LP6/7 in the coming weeks/months
When I tested it, the Roon app (installed on the R8ii) would not output bit-perfect, but re-sample.N6ii works perfectly with Roon. I'm sure N8ii will, too.
Yep, same issue with any Android device and the Roon app, unfortunately. When I tested it, the Roon app (installed on the R8ii) would not output bit-perfect, but re-sample.
Thanks, mate. And thanks for the review - you answered my question about Hugo 2 in no uncertain term. When I tested it, the Roon app (installed on the R8ii) would not output bit-perfect, but re-sample.
Yes, it is True Line Out. So one can just Korg Tube Line out and into Korg Tube Line In on the C9Is balance lineout dedicate?. I See that there are only one socket for both PO and LO for 4.4.
Just realised that the N8ii isn't designed to be pocketable, what with POs on one end, and the volume on the other. You'd end up with the volume face down in a pocket or in the bag.
For my use case (walking about with the 3Max in my pocket), this is a design miss and a hard pass sadly. Will get a C9 if really want to sample the nuTubes.
The point was on the placement of the POs and Volume knob... how would you adjust the volume / prevent damage to the volume wheel / accidental turning of the volume knob while it's in the pocket or in the bag pocket?A thicker 820g 3Max is more pocket friendly than 440g N8ii ?
I can't see how either are pocketable unless you're Jack ReacherA thicker 820g 3Max is more pocket friendly than 440g N8ii ?
