It would be the end game if I was caught spending $3800 on this DAP in Australia!

thats good to hear Andy mate

As it is it converts to 4k Canadian dollars , can change day to day as the dollar fluctuates

i would be afraid to be seen in public with that baby :)

Shall we offer a "stone-washed" version of N8 leather case?:wink:

Indeed we do mate

Thank you

One more thing i was wondering about last night was does the N8 have a pass through (i think its called)

Meaning i can use it to play music as it charges ?

Is it even advisable to do so ?

i believe my N6 does , tho i ve never tried that

Cheers

Technically, yes. You can use N8 while you are charging, However this will increase the current flow inside the DAP, (charging and discharging at the same time) and the player will operate in higher temperature (more so with Hi-Res or DSD content), If you are using very sensitive IEMs, the increase current flow might introduce small amount bo background noise.

On the other hand, if you connect the N8 to other audio dvice through line out or I2S, the headphone amp section will be disabled and the player operate in lower current capacity to start with, so this will not cause the high operation temp and background noise issue.

Just tried the N8 and really liked it. Sound stage seemed a bit wider, highs seemed more extended when compared with wm1z out of 4.4 balanced. They even have a mobile app for controlling the device via Bluetooth which was pretty cool. Really tempted especially with the promotional price they have here at the show.

What is the promotional price out of interest?

Empire Ears Phantom with Janus D cable
Thanks
What about lcd i4? They really need some good driving power imo. With the specification of N8, lcd i4 can be driven with authority especially through 4.4mm .

Unfortunately the Phantom was the only earphone I had with me.

I had a 5-7 mins listening to the N8 and I must say I am more impressed with the 3.5 output (tube end?) than the 4.4 output.

First impression , it’s heavy , equally or even more heavy than SPK. :)

I thought it was a touch lighter than the SP1000 lol. But the SP1000 was definitely wider and harder to hold so that may be it.
