Looked on this forum but did not see "burn-in" recommendations for the N7.
You had some very good recommendations for the N8ii and was looking to see if you have similar words of wisdon for burn-in recommendations for the N7 since there is not the SS/Tubes section of the N8ii on the N7?
Length of Time? Just Burn in using Class A or split time on Class A and A/B?
Anything else I would need to consider?

Thanking you in advance?

N8ii is a lot more complicated because there are three variables that users might be confused: Tube/SS timbre, P/P+ mode, Class A/AB. N7 is relatively straightforward because the first two variables in N8ii are not applicable in N7.

The burn-in recommendation of Class A/AB features are applicable to both N8ii and N7, and you can find the following recommendation in N8ii burn-in setting:
  • no need to burn in Class A/AB separately, they are different operation conditions of the same signal path, Class A will involve FOUR adjustable resistors additionally but there is very insignificant when compared to the discrete components in the amplification path.
Since Class A and Class AB are the same circuit, Class AB is the obvious choice because you get more hours in each charging cycle with Class AB.

Thank You
Yes, as I expected follows along with the recommendations on SS for N8ii
But not wanting to assume since the N7 circuitry is different than N8ii, recommendation on how many hours to burn in? Thinking you'll recommend between 50-100?

Appreciate your advise.

Would anyone be able to share their experience on the tonal and technical differences between the Cayin RU6 and the N7?

This would really help me with my next move!

TIA,
Ian
It is very difficult to compare, as they are totally different. RU6 is more neutral and at the same time natural and what people here call 'organic', very good for relaxed listening. Still early in my experience with N7, but it has very full bodied sound with a lot of details, I was really surprised how many details it can extract from well recorded tracks, especially DSD files. So, N7 is on a completely different level, but I still enjoy RU6 - they complement each other very well.

Hey guys, I am having issue with my Cayin N7. When I first got it I was able to play DSD512 files on my N7. I feel like after the firmware upgrade, now it’s giving me a error “file format is not supported”. Is there any way to fix this? I am using Hibymusic player.

Picture of when I first got the N7 using DSD512 files:

I'm sure many of us will like the other version without the gold accents.(may be platinum or titanium accents + black or navy leather)

@Andykong what's the recommended way to use the line out function for Desktop amps?
4.4mm to XLR cable?

I'd like to test the N7 as Media Player + DAC into the Envy during the review Tour and want to prepare with buying the right cable

Changes are quite noticeable in the first 50 hours, you can feel the soundstage open up gradually, and the image becomes sharper, and the music becomes more coherent across the complete spectrum. The changes become subtle after 50 hours but it won't turn a mediocre setup into brilliant, so don't expect miracles after that.
