Cayin N6 DAP: Dual PCM1792 / Dual Mono / 24-192 / DSD128 / SACD ISO

I cannot get my Cayin N6 to support DSD 128 files.   I have downloaded them from various reputable websites, and the files play fine on other DAP's.   I have also downloaded the latest firmware (v3.1).    Any suggestions?

If it were me I'd convert the file to PCM 24/96. It'll sound the same and be much more compatible. But if you just like DSD to each their own. I know, not very helpful to your original question.

N6 supports non-DST encoded DSD, and that apply for both DSD64 or DSD128, you can check this out if you have installed player such as Foobar2000 in your computer, just selected the file and check out the CODEC information on the File Properties window.

thanks, Andy.   Welcome back, and hope you are feeling better !

Thank you for your kind concern. Basically everything is better then expected, my biggest enemy is the Dietitians, I always think they come from a different planet, we just can't come to agree on anything so far. :D Other then that, I just sit tight for my second operation and I should be fine after that. :p

I've read your review on the X5 II. Saw you "prefer" the DX90 against it and the Micro iDSD. How about now with the N6?

i haven't spent a lot of time listening to the n6 yet, but it's clear the n6 is better than the dx90.  comparing the two, the latter has a slightly bloated, loose bass - that's the biggest difference, though in general the n6 has more air - a wider soundstage with more precise imaging. the dx90 is still very good, though.

when the n6 is $500 i would say it is clearly a better value than the dx90 at $400.  if the n6 is $620, then the values are more similar, and it would mostly be a matter of budget, though the dx90 has some physical advantages- a better form factor and the ability to swap in s3 batteries.  i'm actually waiting for a qp1r [talk about blowing budgets!] and i'm curious how it will compare with the n6.

Eagerly awaiting your comparison between the N6 and QP1R.

I'm thinking of buying the N6 in a couple of weeks. I've read all of the reviews that I can find but the vast majority of them are with early firmware versions (1.0 or 1.1)

I'm curious as to how the unit is nowadays with version 3 and up. Has battery life improved, for example? Has the sound changed?

what keeps me from buying the N6 is the largish size. it's just not pocketable. It would be amazing if one day Cayin can make a pocketable N6 while maintaining the level of SQ it has. I'm just waiting for some more reviews of the N5 and I might pull the trigger.
