Yes, new, updated, files are flacs both 16 and 24 plus dsd, if it crashes it says player has stopped.
I have done factory reset 2 times by now when there's no way to stop it saying..player has stopped in a loop

Corrupted files may cause the player stop playing. Maybe you can remove the music files less than 500kb and 60s from your SD card to your PC then try again. Your cooperation is much appreciated!

How does N5ii compare to Opus#2 & iBasso DX200 (I know these two are high tier babies, but just curious how high the reach of N5ii is)? Thanks!

Both these are a notable step up from the N5ii. I go into more detail about the DX200 comparison in my review.

Hi @Andykong,

I'm having issue with scanning music on 2 TF cards, 1 card worked fine, but today when I introduced the second card, app abruptly stops scanning. Attached relevant video below.

Also, eagerly awaiting the USB-C Otg Audio issue to be resolved to stack with mojo.

Sorry for the problem caused! Corrupted music file in SD cards may caused the scan failure or player stop playback. Please remove the corrupted music file less than 500kb and 60s from your SD cards to your PC to try again. Thanks advance for your cooperation!

I wonder how FIIO, Shanling, and Cayin feel about their vendor of firmware/software also being a competitor?

We wish them good luck! Because going from software to producing hardware is truly big challenge.

And if they keep delivering firmware updates for our players based on feedback from our users, we will be satisfied :sunglasses:

I'm selling some stuff I don't need to fund for my (2nd :triportsad:) DAP. I bought the n5ii, but as I mentioned, it wasn't time... my first choice was the XDP-300r before I got swayed. Now that I am saving up again, I just want to ask how the n5ii compares to the Pioneer? I know the battery life is abysmal and it's much bigger than the n5ii (I like a smaller DAP), but it has APTX and dual DACs. While I probably won't need APTX, what does a dual DAC do that a single DAC doesn't? Does it really matter?

Also, I read that the n5ii sounds a little on the warm side, I prefer neutral (reference?) than warm. Can you tweak the n5ii enough to make it more neutral?

I currently have both - & am in the process of deciding which gets sold. Feel free to PM me if you want a detailed breakdown of the pros & cons of each.

man, why do I feel like I'm buying a good hardware and early access software. usb out as a transport is not working, but it's on the website. can't you guys finish the firmware first and then release the product?

Welcome to DAPs. You'll find posts like yours in practically every thread.

I'll probably be adding my name to the buyers list. I'm just waiting for the glitches to be sorted out via Firmware updates. It could be the upgrade from the Plenue D I've been waiting for. Value for money seems spot on from what I'm reading.

Something catastrophic just happened. I went walking with the player in my pocket using a balanced cable with my lyra 2. I took the player out of my pocket to change album and then the cable felt loose. Then I noticed the plastic part inside the balanced port, where the 2.5 termination of the cable fits, was gone. It happened without any rough movement and no fall whatsoever. I couldn’t find the little piece inside my pocket nor on the floor. After this, the line out power has dropped and the output switches to a low-level line out volume every time I change album (using the 3.5 non-balanced port)

So, I guess I will have to send my Cayin N5ii back to the US at a high cost, just like I had to do with the campfire polaris.

OK, its time I added this in here.
I've been debating if I should say something or not....I believe transparency is the best option for everyone since we are all working together in this thread.

My first purchase of the N5II ended up being returned due to the 3.5mm headphone jack coming completely disconnected from the circuit board (of the 6 contact points on the 3.5mm female jack, 5 had the copper trace pulled off from the broad and the one single contact had just separated from the copper trace) . How do I know this? I took the rear cover off to see exactly WTH happened. I had plugged my headphones in with a 1/4 to 3.5mm adapter but made sure I was extremely careful as to not have any play. I listened to the player for a while, great player BTW, and then placed it on the couch and left for a few hours. When I came back, I picked it up and immediately noticed play on the 3.5mm jack. The sound was intermittent. I was puzzled. I asked my wife who was sitting next to it if she had accidentally sat on the player....she said absolutely not. I said, ARE YOU SURE! She said YES....I'M SURE! Ok....I believe you. (LOL). I asked, did the puppy accidentally sit on the couch, on the player? She said no....I said ARE YOU SURE? She replied....YES I'M SURE!!!! She would be honest with me about this.

So, I ordered another and have been using it with no issues now for over a week. I'm hoping that whatever was the cause, will not be repeated.

I hope this is in no way taken other than constructive and informative. Just need to be transparent about this.

Its a great DAP no doubt.

At this point....I'm not making any judgments as to what may have happened. I cannot verify one way or another.

Cheers

Spiro

Andy or Cayin Support,

I am making my own balanced 2.5mm cable for my HD800 and EL-8, my question for you is what is the wiring for the Cayin 5nii 2.5 balance output? Is it, starting from the tip of the connect, R-, R+, L+ and L-?

Thanks in advance?
