I haven't used the N5ii in weeks. Been reviewing other DAPs of late. I look forward to getting back to it before too long.

Most of the bugs that have been discussed recently are new to me. I didn't experience them during my use. It was that damn volume bug which plagued me.
:)
Yes, the volume bug was the most glaring bug out of the box.

Thankfully it has been solved on 3.1en :)

Has anyone that uses Spotify to download music to their SD card experienced issues with losing their downloads? This has happened to me 3 or 4 times now. Typically I will reboot the N5ii and Spotify is no longer logged in. When I log back in, none of my saved music shows to be downloaded and Spotify has defaulted to saving music on the built in storage instead of the SD card. Changing the storage location within Spotify does not bring the downloaded music back, even though it still is taking up space on the SD card.

I am not sure if this is a Spotify bug or a Cayin bug, and given that streaming is not the primary purpose of this device it is not a huge issue, although it is frustrating.

This dap looks very interesting but I'm in 2 minds at the moment.
i own opus1 which I love and until the weekend an original fiio x7 which I sold , the fiio x7 had loads of bugs in the beginning and I didn't feel it was resolved for quite some time i.e until x5iii was launched then it was great, the bugs make me cautious but I'm sorely tempted.

Can you use the EQ in spotify? Either the built in one or system one? Sorry to sidetrack your question just was curious as I’ll be using it for spotify exclusively.

Unless you really like very warm sound the X5iii can't compete with the N5ii in terms of sound.

I've tried X5iii and one of the most annoying problem is the unbearable background noise.
At first, I thought that the unit in my possession was faulty, but came out that everyone experience the same issue. Even worst if you pair it with a sensitive IEMs.

The sound is OK, but nothing special. Lack of depth and extension on both end of spectrum, and a bit harsh compared to N5ii. Plus, lately the price were going up, thus make me easily choose N5ii over it.

The good news is, X5iii got a custom FW from Fidelizer that helps a lot with UI and overall operating speed. Some said the custom FW give some sonic upgrade too.
But still, I'm already sold to N5ii :))

I didn't like the sound at all, it sounds like a lower tier DAP overall and urgh, that horrible scanning speed.

i'm quite sure this is a spotify bug. i have this issue on my LG G6 smartphone. do you have spotify set on offline or online playback mode under settings? after using online (i.e. offline toggle is off), i have not had this issue for about 2 months.

X5iii doesn't Intrest me at all , most of the previous posts echo what I heard about it.
I chose my opus1 over it when It first came out.
The n5ii realy interests me because I read pinkys and twisters comments on the similarity to the opus1 which I love but I also owned a fiio x7 ( mk1) until a few days ago and in my opinion the opus1 had better resolve than the x7 but the x7 sounded fuller not as thin, I still preferred the opus1 though .
As I said i am almost pressing buy, just a bit concerned about all the random bugs I have read although I acknowledge not all have had them.

Theres a firmware update coming in March. Maybe see if it improves?

For me I'll live with the bugs happily considering the great sound I'm getting.

I probably will buy , I lived with fiio x7 bugs for nearly a year , opus1 had a few bugs but not so many but seem to have been fixed now.
N5ii is just ticking all the boxes for me, similar sound to opus1 but fuller, 2 memory slots and I also own mojo which the cable to connect is easily available!
I understand bugs and understand updates, if I'm being honest it's the randomness of the bugs that concerns me, most bugs I have had on a dap seem generic, but I still believe cayin will come good with them and probably will buy next week.
