Cayin N3Pro DAP: Dual AK4493 and MQA with Vacuum Tube
Jul 10, 2022 at 3:17 PM Post #2,371 of 2,518
Just received my N3pro today, the size is perfect to walk around. Sound quality still testing against my ifi micro idsd signature.

Would be really nice if there was any tidal integration like on the hiby R3.

@Andykong or anybody else: is there any option to use tidal streaming from my phone with using an eq?

Currently using uapp with eq and bluetooth to stream music.
Just the tidal app and bluetooth doesn't work, because with the LDAC connection the eq of the n3pro doesn't work :frowning2:

Also while connected via bluetooth I can't access the systems settings. anyone else has this issues?
How does it compare to the signature?

Pro of the n3 is its smaller size and portability if you want to put it in a jacket.
Don't forget the tubes!!! IMHO in tube mode it just has this magic that solid-state cannot replicate

In my opinion the ifi signature is way better in every aspect. Much larger soundstage, better bass, more power, etc. Sold my n3 after some time and stayed with the ifi.

I didn't try any other mobile dac/amp or daps on this price level. Have an ifi xcan, also nice but less power and not on the sound level of the ifi signature.

Maybe the mojo 2 is worth a try , but didn't hear this one yet. And there also more expensive DAPs, but I also don't tried any of this.

That's true, I forgot this

The N3Pro is also a decent transport, so you can enjoy both worlds.

What a lovely sight, this one. Thanks a lot for sharing and yes, DAPs used as transports for DAC/amp devices rock!

Sorry, can you clarify your question? N3Pro supports upto 8x MQA unfold, so the maximum sampling frequency after MQA unfold will be 384kHz, but this will depends on the MQA file, not all MQA files will unfold to 384kHz.
N3Pro only supports MQA at local playback and that include music files stored on inserted TF card or OTG storage.
Does this answer your questions?
Where does it show mqa sampling rate on n3pro?

If the sampling frequency is 352.8kHz or 384kHz, then you are at 8X unfold during MQA playback.

Hello, I have a question. I don’t understand how the alphabetical browsing works. I see the little sidebar on the right but how to "jump" to a letter ??? I like very much the sound of the DAP with the Meze Classic 99 but the impossibility to browse by date is quite boring when you got tons of albums.

If you're using the supplied case, that sliding alpha menu can be partially blocked. If you have smaller fingers, try using just the tip and slide your finger down. Depending what category you've selected (artist, songs...) selecting that letter will bring you to the beginning of the list with that letter. Helps you narrow down the selection. Hope that helps.

I agree, great synergy with the Meze.

Thanks for your answer. You are right, the supplied case is the problem. It needs some practice.

I don’t have the courage to read all the thread. I plan to buy another headphone (open one probably as the Classic is closed) and wondered which ones are recommended with this DAP.

I just got the Senn HD58X and has some really good sounds so far. I also have used the Fostex T20RP with it and that sounds great. YMMV.
