Hey! thank you!! now it is clear to me...

wow, where did you get this treasure!!!

Now I will go for the N3, then for a better headphones, then a portable amp, then for better versions of dark side of the moon, I just have the cd... need sacd and others... then for more pink floyd's material to enjoy in the Cayin N3... inmersions boxes, japanese versions, 2011 remasters, firsts versions cds... etc etc ..... I need a lot of money for sure.

And now my problem is where to get the N3... no place to get from Chile... eBay just show some few expensive choices (no $150)... this is the problem when you live so far from where everything is happening.

Good choice ! I received mine 2 days ago, love it so far ! The CD version is already really good, before buying the SACD version you should try to compare FLAC 16 bits VS DSD because for me, it sounds exaclty the same and with many albums i cant tell the difference between MP3 320kbps and FLAC 16 bits. I listen with Grado SR80 and Shure SE215.

Well, maybe not a software bug, but definitely a firmware/architecture design flaw. Yes, I agree that it shouldn't stop playing when charging (or not do anything except show the charging screen for a few seconds). I can see flashing the screen to indicate that you've successfully applied power, but then should return to the previous screen and only show the upper-right battery icon moving.

I just plugged mine in while it was playing and it didn't pop up the screen - nor did it quit playing. The LEDs started blinking and the battery started to scroll, but no other screens or issues. I'm using the cable that comes with the N3 and a wall-wart 4x3A USB charge block. Are you charging via the USB port on the computer?

Follow up - Once I found that the Windows 10 on my work PC doesn't have the new USB Audio 2.0 drivers, I only plug my N3 into a Anker 60W 6-Port USB Wall Charger - and it does not stop playing music when connected, like it does when plugging in to the PC port at home.

I'm going to go ahead and buy & try a couple of these Data block cables - https://smile.amazon.com/PortaPow-Specialised-Block-Charge-USB-C/dp/B01D52RQZQ

So after doing some more listening with the coax cable / adapter there is something not quite right i dont know what and cant really describe the sound apart from muddy and squashed.  I ended up just using the N3 with the Sine and that is actually the first time since day 1 that i have used them direct and they sounded very good.  Not Mojo clear but very very good to the point i wasnt missing the mojo by the end of the listening session and it was so light and pocket friendly.

If that's the case, then it must be the USB attempting to activate the data transfer mode that's causing it to quit. If you're using just a wall charger, you probably don't need the data block cables. It charges faster from the block than it does a computer USB port.

lol...are you serious? I gave my sansa to my brother. Xduoo X2 bettered Sansa. Then I bought Xduooo X3 which is arguably even better and now most likely N3. Would have bought N3 if available at right price but then till it will be available on say aliexpress Shanling might release M2s or any other DAP with similar capability and price.

Hi, I had the XDuoo X3 but I didn't really like the sound...clear but too thin and the treble was too much. If you have both X3 and N3 can you make a small comparison in terms of sound, particularly the lower frequencies? It would really be appreciated, while I wait until the N3 will be back in stock in the UK to buy it...I don't now why is taking so long. Thank you

Can anyone compare it to sandisk sansa?

I have rock boxed sansa clip+ which is good as its gonna get and it's not even close. N3 has a much wider and 3d stage and the detail, resolution, timbre, dynamics, ADS, are just leaps and bounds better. Especially with good iems/cans. The clip sounds so boxed in, and the output power of the N3 smokes it.

Well you get the idea

Can't speak for the max song capacity (I'm sure Andy will chime in), but I found one very nice trick when you are going through a long list of songs.  Click on the Menu button (upper left touch button) and it brings up a sorting by ALL or letters of Alphabet you can scroll through.  Use < > buttons to navigate through alphabet gets you faster through the list:

Ha ha I found that by accident just today, very nice indeed. Just shows that pushing random buttons CAN be productive. That takes care of my slower scrolling complaint. Now if they just fix that background pic that flashes betwix album art when changing songs and make a nice leather case this unit will be perfect for me!

Yes I know sansa might not be typical audiophile player but it damn good than most flagship smartphones and ipods. Its all about sound signature and sansa is one of the most natural sounding players.

It does have a nice meaty tone, (I always thought it did percusion especially good) but it's far from neutral and has a small sound stage and is hissy with sensitive iems. That said mine is at least 5 years old and when I want tunes to mow the yard or work out to the clip is idea for that.

I might though now that I have the N3 actually try some Bluetooth headphones for active use.

I have almost the complete Rolling Stone 500 top albums (FLAC) and almost the complete Herbert Von Karajan recordings (FLAC). This is a small portion of my collection. How many tracks it is I have no idea. Can't even guess.

Super cool!

I've seen over 10600 tracks on my N3

I've got over 10,000, as well. Not sure about >30k, though...

Looks like my floor when I clean out the dozen CD books I have. Each book has about 400 discs. I always hated organizing them when new discs came out!

Hi everyone !

New in Hi Res world, so far only listened to mp3/spotify on my iPhone 6s with Sony MDR 1000X noise cancelling headphone.

Due to short storage 64GB on iPhone, decided to make the jump to an audio dedicated device, and came across the Cayin N3.

After several days, comparing left and right, I made the jump yesterday and went to Audio Garden in Paris, France to pick up the N3 in black for 169€.

I tested it paired with a Meze 99 Classics in demo, fell in love with the design and sound-> ended up buying it + the earphone of the same brand.

Very satisfied with the quality of sound of N3, light and portable, just wish it came with 2 slots of micro SD.
