These Fivre 6V6Gs are actually relatively popular and for good reason. I tried them too. They have a nice smooth, spacious and clear sound, yet still on the slightly warmer side: nice tonality. If I had to articulate a criticism towards them, I was missing a slightly heftier bottom end (bass).

Thanks for saving me the trouble, what is your favorite 6V6 tube? I currently have the Reflektor 6V6GT and that has been excellent but I want to try something else.

My favourite 6V6 so far is the Brimar 6V6GT Black Glass with D getter. These sound warmer and a little less spacious than many other 6V6s, but the body, tone timbre is nice, thick and lush which I love. Bass is also the biggest I have heard so far. It is a warmer and bassier tube, so you have to be careful what 12AU7 you use with them. The 12AU7s have to provide a precise and controlled sound to work with the Brimars. Note, that there are several other great 6V6s which I have not tried yet.

Can you see if you can find which tube might be the one your are speaking of as they have a few Brimar thank you!

This is the closest look, but I am equally lost when it comes to determining the smallest manufacturing differences between tubes.
Order has been made, no pressure on you big man! I better be hearing angels :L3000::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Hope, you will like them. Just make sure you pair them with tighter and controlled sounding 12AU7s otherwise the warmth can get too much.

I have quite a variety of 12AU7's including the Sylvania 5814A Triple Mica (favorite 12AU7), Sylvania 5814A (Detail, soundstage king), Sylvania 6189, Telefunken ECC82, Mullards & RFT ECC82 so I will see which tubes have the best synergy with the Brimar's.

Hello @all,

I'm Michael, still pretty new here and this is my first post. I am happy with my ZMF Atrium Open in combination with my Naim Atom HE and the Cayin HA-3A.

So far I'm still using the original tubes, but thinking about trying other ones.
I don't really have the feeling that I'm missing anything in terms of sound, but I'm just curious and wonder what else is going on or whether other tubes actually bring an improvement or increase.

Basically, I prefer a warm sound, I can't do anything with totally analytical reproduction.

At the Atrium Open I still have the Caldera ultra perf pads with solid mesh.

What do you think of the following tubes ?

- Brimar 6v6gty NOS NIB
- Sylvania 5814a / 12AU7 NOS
- Kenrad 5814 / 12AU7 NOS

Welcome to the forum

My goodness you are in for a shock once you get some NOS tubes if you think you aren't missing out in terms of sound with the current stock tubes.

If you are looking for a warm, thick but still airy and detailed sound signature then I would highly recommend the Sylvania 5814A Triple Mica & Reflektor 6V6GT tubes as they are currently my endgame tubes.

I'm not the typical tube roller, I want to hear my music first and foremost, and I want it to be as good as possible, so of course I need to find the optimum tube combination.
I found the perfect pair for my Euforia very quickly, but it took over a year for the Cayin.

My absolute recommendation is Generel Electrics, which for me is the absolute best overall package.

For 22DE4 i use GE made in USA, for 12AU7 i use a matched pair of 5814a GE 5 Stars white, and for 6v6g i use GE made in Canada.

This puts an end to rolling for me, and I have a cupboard full of tubes that I'm sure I'll never need again :D

Excited to try my first tube upgrade on the Cayin. Went all out with the Telefunken G73-Rs; figured my recent high-end tube amp purchase deserved a TOTL tube. Will update after they come in and I give them a good listen.

For power tube upgrade I’m waiting on SE to restock their KT88s. Was told three more weeks… I really liked the SE 274b on my Woo WA6.
I thought only 6V6 tubes are compatible and not KT88?
