Based on two of Campfire Audio products, Andromeda and the Cascade now, I get a sense that Ken tunes the sound to reduce sibilance(which I'm all for personally to be more friendly to wide range of music with vocals). Both of them hardly has any sibilance. Both are tuned to be on the warm side, but of course Cascade's bass much much more significant. It's for those that love a lot of bass. Bass doesn't sound like it's the very low woofer bass, but the kind that has much weight in the mid-bass region, but very very significant in impact and the quantity. Bass isn't the kind that has much textures, but just really elevated kind that when you push drivers to the limits in bass, and it starts to sound a bit bloomy kind. I guess this is attributed to being a closed back.
Other than the bass being so significant, it does sound a bit characteristically like Andromeda in the upper portions(like the reduction of sibilance, and overall smoothness of the treble), but with Andromeda have slightly more lower treble peak. I don't hear treble frequency that peaks significantly above other parts in transition to sound a bit sparkly or grain sounds sticking out.
Although, the bass doesn't seem to be too overwhelming the mids, but mids sounds a bit on warm side that can sound a bit less articulated with a bit of a bloomyness. Overall, mids to lower seems a bit on the bloomy side. My personal taste is a bit different from this tuning(although I knew what kind of headphone it was going to be going in). I'm not a bass-head, and prefer the mid-bass more linear with the nearby frequencies in the bass, with slight reduction in warmth. Bass can be bit more on the tighter side, it's a bit on the looser side for my taste, and it does effect the mids to some degree due to the added warmth from sound that is closer to neutral(although I understand this tuning isn't intended for that given the level of bass). I do like the treble smoothness though. It's the kind of signature that the treble will not get fatiguing.
If you are one of those people that tend to say, so and so sounds bright pretty often, Cascade maybe the one for you given you are not against significant bass. The bass in some tracks like hip-hop has the woofer sound(which is a particular bass characteristic), and yeah, woofer can sound fun(depends on the type of woofer sound of the track, if the Cascade responds well to the particular woofer effect).
