The only headphones I know that has a large soundstage that I actually listened to and owned at one point. Was the AD700.

how did i forget!! i think my own sony pfr-v1 had a nice ammount of headstaging to them, WAY more than my markld D5K for reference.

they are ear speakers so this should maybe be expected.

Rare but Open V3 Deep Darths and probably the new V4 Darths. Huge speaker like sound stage there.

Grado GS1000, but you need to match it with a good amp. Possibly Stax (old school Lambda Pros or Novas, or newer versions such as SR-404), but again it depends on the source (SRD transformer connected to a standard amp or an amp designed for electrostats).

Any specific request besides largest soundstage, such as preferred type of music?

If you want a reference sound instead of a warm one from the Grados try the Beyerdynamic T5 or T1 pretty much everything else is the same.

Fair bump there buddy.

Some of the posts are pretty much spot on.

K1000 >>> anything else.

HD800 impressive, DX1000 best I've heard for closed. R10 is meant to be fantastic in this regard. I'd assume the K812 might be up there too.
