I remember my first CanJam NYC, I am used to avoid eye contact and human interaction from my years of living in LA. Walking across the street from CanJam one of the guys in Times Square was trying to get my attention I stared off into the distance. Then he grabbed my arm and I gave him the biggest death stare I could and he quickly released my arm. Folks out here in Times Square getting really aggressive in getting you to buy one of the CDs!

Oh... don't make eye contact with anyone in Times Square. Especially if they have a stack of tour bus flyers in their hand.

For all you guys visiting NYC, a quick PSA - Times Square is to NYC what PVC is to cable conductivity (i.e. in both cases they may be along for the ride, but are not the core of the exercise).

Time Square is a place where all tourists congregate and look at other tourists, thinking they are looking at New Yorkers. As a local, I will always have a mental 2-3 block radius promixity alert set, and will circumvent this small anomaly. I totally get the attraction, it's like going to Vegas and seeing the small Eiffel tower they have there. It's fun. But it's got nothing to do with Paris... :)

Times square to new yorkers is an underground subway station. Ideally you don't get above ground there.

And don't gawk and stare up at the buildings, Elmo will sneak up next to you and snap a quick polaroid then demand $50 in a heavy foreign accent.

more importantly, please... for the love of god... do not walk slowly in the middle of the sidewalk. That's one sure way to standout and upset the indigenous population... we are kind of sensitive about it... 🤣🤣🤣

Most folks in Time Square are tourists anyway, But yeah walk fast, perhaps hands in your pocket, and don’t be gazing up at buildings. Also, especially if you’re in a line make sure you 100% know what you’re getting. Ain’t nobody got time for dilly dallying. New York is such a diverse place, that I feel one has to go out of their way to look like an outsider.

Times Square isn't so bad.

If you make eye contact and speak with a promoter in NYC, they'll follow you 20 feet.

If you make eye contact and speak with a promoter in Vegas, they'll follow you 200 feet.

If you make eye contact, don't speak, but have girls with you in Vegas, they'll follow you 2000 feet.

If you're approached by someone like a promoter or weirdo just ask them their thoughts on burn-in or the harman curve and they'll go away. If not, get 'em a badge.

Yes sir, I've always been crazy amazed at how effective one upping the crazy in a crazy situation, gets one out of the crazy situation.

Does this work on mother-in-laws?
Sometimes in order to slay a monster you have to bring your own, bigger, scarier monster.
