Campfire - Solaris

Thanks for the tip.
But I basically work with Crinacle's EQ settings.
Harman curve as a basis, and then personalized.

Today my Solaris 2020 In-Ears will arrive.
I am very excited, and will of course report back.

The Preset is ready 😬

As Expat mentioned, better try them w/o the eq. in order for you to know the Solaris strengths.
There's something very hi-fi about it's tuning
They are not forgiving on some sibilant albums, that's a fact.
Take this track for instance. It beats Evanescence's bring me to life for piercing trebles.
But love this track, so much I have to re-process...

@ExpatinJapan

Of course, I will also, or rather initially, try out the Solaris without interfering with the frequency response.

But I have a "career" behind me, and this approach, has emerged from the fact that I know my preferred frequency response pretty well.
This setting is mandatory for me.

Whether In-Ears, or Over-Ear HP, my preferred frequency response stands.
With in-ears it looks something like this

It would be a miracle if it wasn't like this with the Solaris....

Here are some examples that were completely unusable for me out of the box, but have turned out "personalized" as a HiFi pleasure at the highest level:

- KSE 1200
- LCDi3
- LCD-X
- Empyrean

I hated my LCD-X until I got the right cable which fixed my complaints without EQ.

Has anyone cracked open the Solaris OG / SE to see what the chambers look like inside? I'm quite curious to what these would look like in comparison to the new "Single boot" versions found in the 2020 / X.

@Lookout57

I haven't gone shopping in the Snakeoil Department for 15 years.
This chapter has ended long time ago...

The only cable that can correct this, has to have a DSP in the middle 😉

My first impression of the Solaris 2020, after about 5 hours of listening.

First of all, it is worth mentioning that the Solaris has turned my usual approach on its head.
Harman curve does not work at all with this in-ear. Not at all!

While a KSE, or a LCDi3, Out of the Box, are an imposition for me, and after Harman adjusted undergo an enormous transformation to the positive, it is the opposite with the Solaris.
For me a sensation.
The "Big" Campfire sounds quite different than one would expect based on the frequency curve.
Yes, the bass is abysmally powerful. Still, I find the Solaris to be balanced, and wonderfully coherent.

Its holographic presentation puts one in awe of the engineers.
There is nothing about "in the head" plays the music. The KSE is far away from such a representation!
Can the Solaris do magic? Yes!
It conjures up a gigantic amount of information without becoming exhausting. Amazing!
At this point, I would like to draw a comparison to the Utopia. This one conjures as well, but becomes too exhausting for me after max. 2 hours.
Like a Ferrari. Very exciting, but not suitable for long distances.

The Solaris is in my opinion a very interesting in-ear

The DD driver needs to break in before you will fully hear what it can do. So a 5 hour impression is meaningless.

Post after it has at least 130 hours which is what Campfire recommends.

The previous owner has done this months ago 😉

Because I take it for granted that you don't judge headphones / in-ears until the manufacturer's specifications regarding play-in time have been met.

Does anyone have the CP 145 in use?
