Campfire - Solaris

I am currently using a LG G7 as my DAP right now for my andromeda. I really like the convenience of it. Should I even bother trying other DAPs?
There is a huge difference between my LG V35 and my desktop Questlye CMA600i. However, for me carrying an additional DAP on the go is not worth it. If you are just using it on your desktop, just get a good desktop gear with Gain Control

I am using it for mobile. I have a separate LCD-4 setup on my desktop. Have you ever tried a WM1A with it?

From what everyone has been saying, they shine with all the Sony daps.

I have used solaris quite extensively w Sony wm1a. It pairs very well, as does it w Hugo 1/2. There is a tiny bit of white noise w Sony, but to such an extent that it bothers. No noise w Hugo's

Okay, for anyone wanting to know I have switched to the LG V40, It is a great pairing with the Solaris compared to the Samsung S8 (the V40 has no hiss)

The V40 however is noticable brighter than the S8 or the iDSD Black Label (most likely due to the slightly higher output impedence). This is not the biggest issue as I would rather have no hiss than my perfect frequency response. I have concluded that out of all the tips that come with the Solaris, the foam are the best for the V40. Stock silicone make it have less bass. The Final E make it bassier (this part I like) and even brighter (really not good) they also make the mid range sound un-natural as well, so not good at all.

Hopefully these Symbio W Peel tips increase the bass without changing much else. If anyone knows tips that increase the bass compared to the stock foam, without messing too much with other parts, please let me know! (Or decrease treble without doing much else)

How well does Solaris pair with Mojo?

Small Soundstage, too warm, less treble. Bad.

Agree with seamon, I did not like the pairing. The warmth of the mojo takes away some of the detail that makes the Solaris so great.

I prefer my Oppo HA2-SE over the mojo. The brightness of the DAC works well, and using the bass boost gives just enough more to hit hard when I want it

Based on the many comments here, Sony DAPs and the LG V40 seem to be popular pairings as well.

Solaris + Lunashops 8 core pure silver($70 by the way)+ Shanling M5s ( On sale with case for $400 right now from $460 usually @ musicteck.com)= Gets about as good as it gets imo. Sounds absolutely superb!

I know many guys post about uber expensive pairings here but I want to buck the trend. I am willing to put this pairing up against any pairing you guys have been posting about and I am willing to bet this will give some stiff competition for all around sonics. With any earphone + dap combo on the planet.

This 8 core lunashops cable is no joke.

Just because it cost $70. shipped to your house. Wait till you plug your Solaris using this and in balanced out.
Pure cus it beads up in silver like this.

A very short summary of what I wrote in my review so we agree there, bad is not how I would sum it up some might find it enjoyable but to me it tames the Solaris potential so not the best synergy indeed @tgipier

Very nice looking cable, thanks for the pointer :)

Yes you’re right there are some quality cheaper alternatives for gear, I mean right now I am puzzled at how iBasso pulled off the SR1 which should be 4x the price...

Now the only concern is that you take a bet with some of those cheaper cables, they might look great but often it’s how rigid the cable is, how well finished it is as well. LunaShop I have heard the name a few times now so worth checking out!

Thanks

I know it is easy to dismiss a cheaper $70 cable. I mean the super alo litz that comes with the Solaris is $200 right? Can't possibly be as good as the stock cable right?

For your $70 the cable I listed is an actual upgrade. Believe me I would not have posted that cable if it was even a side grade to what we already get in the box. In this case you get way more than what you pay for.
