Campfire - Solaris

Solaris, DX200, Spiral Dots and some 2Cellos - not a bad way to start the morning. Not tried the Final E tips or my custom moulds yet, but the Spiral Dots do take a little of the warmth off the presentation compared to foam, in exchange for a dash more crispness in the upper mid and treble. Not sure they will be my final keeper, but sound pretty damn good either way!

On the subject of great recordings to listen to with the Solaris, I'm enjoying these at the moment:

Joe Bonamassa & Beth Hart - either the Seesaw or Black Coffee albums, high superb
Foy Vance - The Wild Swan

The tone and precision of these IEMs is hugely addictive. Went to a gig in a small venue last night with a good sound system, and apart from that physical thump in the chest you get from a good speaker stack, the Solaris are giving me the same sort of feeling. Will try and dial down on the hype while I'm putting my review notes together, but I stand by my initial comments - these might end up being just a little bit special.

You should throw on Joe Bonamassa & John Hiatt - Down Around My Place from Joe's Beacon Theatre concert. Amazing.

Nice. I have moved from my trusty sacred JVC Spiral Tips to the Stock Final Audio tips.

I am wow’d by the fidelity and resolution retrieval and overall performance of the Solaris.
I may sadly even have to put my favorites:
the Andromeda in second place on the bench.

I'd pass on the Vega. The bass can be very overpowering unless you like an extreme V shaped signature. If you want clean and fast bass the U12t sounded great to me, but I'd go with the A12t as you'll get a better seal which will make it sound even better. The Solaris reviews sound good so I'd wait and see if this is for you.

I'll definitely wait for some more in-depth reviews of the Solaris. I've got 2 months before buying so that should be enough.
Already checked on the A12t, which seems well suited to my tastes, but is way to expensive for my student wallet .. ;-(

Anyways, considering myself as a borderline basshead, and my music genre is composed of 50% electronic music (techno, drone, industrial, IDM) but also some RnB, Hip Hop, Blues etc. I'll be looking into an IEM that excels in that department. I want something to remind me the thundering soundsystem in the Berghain (Berlin) !

BTW, I've read your comments about Vega's driver flex that had a significant impact in your listening which is a bit worrying. Atlas is also known for having this driver flex issue, proper to its sizeable DD.

Thanks for your input ! I'll investigate some more :L3000:

Ladies and Gentelmen, I am only reading praises and hyping. Is there any constructive criticism or should everybody sell their gear and buy Solaris only ?

The Solaris is a reviewer's nightmare. It's just too damn good / balanced / error-free to pick any obvious holes in, so you either look like a hype merchant when you say how good you think it is or struggle really hard to find something to moan about, which goes too far the other way and isn't fair to the product. First world problems!

On a serious note, there aren't any obvious flaws jumping out just yet. Yes, the housing is a little big, but I don't have any fit issues. Yes, it has memory wire (why?!?!). Yes, you can't choose the cable (no idea if that will change over time). It won't be for the extreme bassheads out there (maybe). Apart from that, I got nothin'.

. What he said. So far so great.

(I removed the memory wire from the 4.4mm cable today).

Still listening now at midnight. A rarity for me.

I dunno dude, sounds like we have pretty similar musical tastes, I love that bass. I had the opportunity to do a fairly extensive AB with the Vega and Atlas and found the Atlas to be much better to my ears. My buddy who was all about the Vega also recently picked up the Atlas and he just sold off his Vega.

I realize everyone's experiences are subjective, but I personally love the Atlas. It's so good. The bass is amazing and doesn't bleed. I also wouldn't read too much into the whole driver flex thing.

Im still planning on getting the Solaris soon, but despite being a bass head, my motivations are to get something a bit more balanced so I can have the best of both worlds! I've heard various comments here about bass on the Solaris and I attribute the variance due to personal perspective on sound. However, the one word which keeps popping up is balance, so I'll be looking forward to the supposed superb sonic soundscape of the Solaris!

Man this shill is real. Can someone with unbiased opinion share their actual thoughts of solaris. Everyone here made it sound like solaris is the second coming Jesus. How is this a discussion when you guys are just pointing out the goods? only complains so far is the memory wire cable and it has nothing to do with the iem itself.

Thanks! It seems I need to order a demo unit asap :)
And I rellay get all other comments, I like bass too (IMR R1) but keep going back to Toneking T88k for that rich mids and details that I have learned to appriciate in comparison with the other IEMs. And when I just want to relax I go for Beyerdynamic Xelento for that warm mellow sound. I really hope Solaris could somehow combine all of that.
