Thanks, @mashuto! We'll have the Dorado shipped out for you today. And yes, we'd love to have you visit our office! We have a huge IEM collection that you can take a listen to. :)
That would be awesome. I'll absolutely be in touch next time im in the area. Though again, who knows when that will be, especially since virginia is back on the new york/new jersey/connecticut naughty list.

My only complaints with Atlas were that I found the treble a touch metallic at times and the mids lacked a bit of presence...if they can remedy these two things in Vega 2020 I will be all over it.

So I think what you're really looking for is the Dorado. :)
The Vega is an improvement in some ways over the Atlas, but it's largely very incremental – tiny tweaks here and there. The Dorado takes that same 10mm driver as the starting point, and makes massive improvements in the mids, treble, and soundstage with the addition of the BA driver.

I hear you...part of me is really fixated on the idea of a single DD though. That said the Dorado is almost sounding like a Solaris with more bass...which might be a very nice complement to my Solaris SE.

If budget is not a concern, is there any reason to pick the Vegas over the Dorado? Waiting on initial reviews but would consider replacing my Andromeda Gold with the Dorado

Same boat here.

This is biased in the sense that I want to pair them with Cayin's N3 Pro using the tubes but the 2020 Solaris seem like a more logical next step. Andro quality + Dynamic driver.

It's possible that we'll miss something with the 2020 Dorado and/or that we find it too bassy.

You like the white color better than the black?
I could see someone picking the Vega if you already had a number of IEMs, and just wanted something that's very strongly bass focused.

The dorado has me very interested but the 10ohms impedance has me also very concerned. I profoundly hate hissing. You did not detect any at all with the Kann Alpha 4.4mm out?

I had tested with the 3.5mm and heard no hiss, but I just dug up a cable to plug it into the 4.4mm, and there was no hiss on Low Gain. I maybe detected a tiny bit of hiss on Mid Gain, but I can't be 100% sure it wasn't just the pressure in my ears.

So while there are some similarities between the Dorado and Solaris, my ears are hearing something a little more like a Harman curve with a little extra junk in the trunk on the Dorado vs. the flatter response on the Solaris.

Yeah at the moment I’m eyeing the 2020 Dorado as a potential replacement for my Andro Gold while holding on to my Solaris 2020. I’ll likely wait for a few more reviews first and maybe do an in person demo soon.

How do you like the 2020 Solaris compared to the Andro Gold? Big appreciable and enjoyable difference or not that much (e.g. just more bass)?

I think on the whole I enjoy the Solaris a bit more but the two are overall pretty similar. I think the soundstage of the Solaris might have a slight edge as well as the bass difference you mentioned. It’s not that there is anything I dislike about the AG, more that I would like something a little different.

I figure if I end up not liking the Dorado or Vega after a demo, I may just use the Solaris at home and the AG on the go.

What I'm curious about is which one, the Vega or Dorado, sounds closest to the Cascade... or am I really just missing the point and should be looking at the Legend X?

Now that's a good question.

Comparing IEMs to over-ear headphones can be a little bit of an apples and oranges things, and I haven't seen the measurements for the Vega and Dorado yet (I'll sure they'll be coming soon), but I wouldn't be surprised if the Vega curve looks pretty similar to the Cascade. I'd say that the Vega has similar subbass extension, a smaller mid-bass boost, and slightly more recessed mids with a similar treble bump as compared to the Cascade. I don't really hear that same sort of "dark" sound as the Cascade though with the Vega and definitely not with the Dorado.
