Campfire Audio - Introducing 2 new models Hello Andromeda and Nova

Hi Guys

I have Andromeda S, but I want the green ones too :), but I can't decide between Classic (2019) or 2020? ...
I couldn't find a comparison. Is there a big difference compared to Andromeda S.

Thanks
Classic is brighter and has a rather odd timbre compared to the newer andro but I dont quite get why anyone would get another andro if one already has it.

I haven’t heard the Andromeda S, but see here my thoughts between the Andromeda 2019 and the Andromeda 2020. I think it would be safe to say that there would be more of a difference (albeit subtle) between the Andromeda 2020 and the Andromeda S, as opposed to the Andromeda 2019 and the Andromeda S, which are more similar with the added treble peak. I’d definitely try and listen to both before buying either model though.

I always felt that old andro was a prototype and the new andro fixed the kinks of the old one.

I am looking for a balanced 4.4mm cable for my Andromeda 2020. I am up for suggestions if anyone would like to chime in. I have looked at the reference 8 and sxc 8 but I don't know what the difference is?

No experience with the SXC8, but the Ref8 is terribly microphonic & not ergonomic; it's stiff & very "springy".

I've heard it is microphones but not noticeable when music is playing. I want to know the difference between the two cables. I might just send them an email and see what u can find out.

Hi there! I would highly recommend cleopatra. The octa would be even better but it is quite an expensive cable.

No offence, but are you really sure you need a balanced 4.4 for Andro2020? I used a balanced cable on mine for about an hour before I realised all it did was give me less granularity with the volume dial on account of the 2x power output on my DAP.

I was all keen to get an aftermarket cable, but because of this decided I'd rather spend those $$ on something else which turned out to be a Schiit Vali2+ pre-amping my Asgard3. This has had quite a significant impact on the Andro2020, much more than I had anticipated actually. Bass is still not DD-like in rumble or slam, but there is quite a lot more bass depth and quantity with the tube, whilst maintaining all of the details, stage & imaging that Andro is so good at.

SXC8 - Silver plated high purity copper wire is at the heart of the eight fine stranded 22 awg conductors.
Reference 8 - Four high purity silver-plated copper (SXC) conductors combined with four OCC copper conductors in FEP jackets deliver full bodied musicality and fine inner detail to recordings.

I would take the DHC Symbiote SP V3 4 wire pure silver over either Campfire cable (which I own). For not much more money you get a pure silver cable with no microphonics.

Yes i realize the Andromeda doesnt really need a balanced cable but my main reason for getting one is because i am using my dx300 with amp 12 and it only has 4.4mm. I know i could get an adapter but i just thought it would be easier to just have the cable.

Do you gave a suggestion between the 2?

Is the pure silver cable not to bright with the Andromeda? With the sxc8 cable are the micrphonics noticeable with music playing?
