I am a uber detail freak (most of the time).

BUT when overpowered (playing out of the 380cu+amp balanced and the wm1A balanced) the Andros seem to (these are general observations common to both setups)
(1) carry too much brat in the lower trebles
(2) the wonderfully balanced bass become somewhat less balanced, with more mid-bass flooding out
(3) the mids on the contrary become a bit too focused and more energized being overtaken by the lower trebles, the beautiful airiness in the hi-mids lessens

Cables used (only balanced listed - almost exclusively used stock Litz for SE output):
Ref 8 (for 380 combo)
Venturecraft-Furutech PCOCC-A (for 380 combo)
Plussound Tri-metal X6 (for 380 combo)
Sony-Kimber cable (for WM1A)
Labkable Samurai iii (for WM1A)

thanks.
your labkable samurai is 4.4mm?

maybe the sony cable isnt better than the litz alo cable?

Yes the Samurai is 4.4mm.

To my surprise the Sony cable is actually pretty good value. To me it is about the same quality level with the Litz - with the Litz a tad brighter and Sony a tiny bit beefier sounding (maybe with a tad lower impedance due to its thicker diameter?)

Thanks for the impressions of WM1A with the Andromedas.  I have been waiting for first impressions of the combo for quite some time, especially with respect to presence of hiss (almost omnipresent with many DAPs given the Andro sensitivity) and the neutral signature since the Andro morphes into different beasts with so many DAPs.

As I search for the ideal DAP for my Andromedas, it is interesting to note the difference between SE and balanced.

The Sony ZX2, with its output impedance noted as ~1.5, is regarded as a very good match with the Andros.

The WM1A has an output impedance of 0.92 according to a recent review.  However it is unclear whether the measruements are similar between SE and balanced output.

Could a discrepancy between output impedance of SE and balanced account for the change in sound?  A very low OI would turn the Andros into bass monsters, a big no go for my neutralhead.

An OI adapter like the IFI IEMatch to the balanced out might change the sound if this is so.

The andros pair better with the wm1a than vegas. Maybe because of the low impedance the bass is weighty yet quick and agile.

I have not heard the Vegas but the Andromedas have an excellent neutral and balanced sound that fits my tastes perfectly. I have not heard better treble reproduction than on the Andros. Even the Focal Utopia does not render treble as smooth and sparkly without sibilance as the Andromeda.

WM1A is possibly a better pairing with Andromeda than WM1Z. The low output impedance of 0.92 is counteracted by the neutral balanced sound of the WM1A. The WM1Z on the other hand might be too warm with the Andros unless an impedance adapter is used.

People in Europe, be warned, I have seen that eglobalcentral, a site known to rip off customers (goods never been sent out), is selling Campfire Audio iems!
If you order from them, and they are able to deliver, the goods might be imported from Hong Kong (where eglobalcentral sits), thus you'd have to pay additionally for customs and import taxes!!

I have had a very bad experience with them myself, DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!
Best case you get what you ordered, but you have to pay big time for additional costs (customs...)

If there's anybody out there that still doesn't have a clue what Andromeda sounds like, here's my take

Concerning eglobalcentral selling Campfire Audio IEMs:

"It has come to our attention a particular website eglobalcentral is selling Campfire Audio earphones in the EU from an unknown source.

We work hard to offer our products through only reputable dealers and distributors to ensure our international customers have the very best experience and support possible.

Please note that there will be no warranty covered for the products that are purchased through their site or from that company.

Our authorized distributor for Campfire Products in the EU is Audio Tuning."

hi
i cant decide, between (chord mojo & sony nw-wm1a)
with due attention to i have campfire andromeda

Andromeda is because it has low impedance,
which one is better?
To have less hiss.

You are a good source to know that Andromeda produce better sound and hiss less cause?
Among the players or Amp/DACs
My budget is $ 1,200

Except idsd portability is important because for me.

AK Are all models are good?
I'm just looking for quality audio without the hiss from Andromeda

wm1a...not even close against mojo. There was hiss on the zx2, but on the wm1a there is no hiss. You probably have to go through the pita effort for a 3.5 trrs or 4.4 balanced cable but it is worth the improvement in sq.not to mention great battery life and you'll get a lot of great micro details and nuance extensions with wm1a. You should use direct mode without any sound adjustments.
Also andro is reactive to output impedance and .94 ohm of the wm1a will reach a more ideal signature compared to near zero from the mojo. With io close to zero you'll lose some air from the andros and it'll be bassy.

Mojo is an ok unit but you have to stack and get a dap because the usb input is so poor you don't really know what sq you'll get. Also Sony has much better imaging and soundstage compared to the mojo. Mojo is a bit intimate in the sound stage. You also have to stack and recharge it everytime..while sony can go 33 hrs of playback without charging...I usually charge once a week. Hope that helps!
