Campfire Audio - Introducing 2 new models Hello Andromeda and Nova

True that. Your comment brings to mind the reviews I read on the earsonics s em6. While it's said to not be one of the most technically proficient high end iems, it does well enough while concurrently maintaining an excellent sense of emotion and musicality. I'm glad to hear that the andromeda seems as good as or better than the k10 in terms of technicalities. I just hope it also has a good balance between that and emotion and musicality.
If Doctor Phil, Mister T, LeBron James, Andrea Bocelli, Lil Wayne, Daft Punk, BB King, Elvis Presley, Lady Gaga, Adam Levine, Christopher Columbus, Eminem, Oprah Winfrey, Eddie Murphy, Sylvester Stallone, Brad Pitt, Martin Luther King Jr, Jennifer Anniston, Neil Armstrong, Bryce Harper, Vladimir Putin, Mahatma Gandhi, David Beckham, Usain Bolt, Jackie Joyner Kersey, Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell, Neil Diamond, Jim Carey, Liza Minelli, Warren Buffet, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Winston Churchill, Tiny Tim, Brett Favre, Whoopi Goldberg and Batman had love child baby, and that baby was an in-ear monitor, it would probably be the Andromeda.

I like headphones

Boom :)

Hi doofalb, I've lived with the 846 for 2 years and only recently switched to the Jupiter and did hear the Andromeda this weekend. The 846 to my ears is very detailed but narrow with little to no sound stage. The 846 sounds like an in-ear. The new Campfires offer more warmth, fuller sound, and more of an on-ear / open sound. They are not clinical sounding as say K10, UM, or even some of the upper tier Empire Ears offerings. If you want studio mastering, I would look else where. If you want a full room listening experience that is very engaging then the Jupiter or Andromeda would be the way to go.

FYI, I already own the Jupiter and I'm still getting to know this IEM so I'll probably resist the urge to "upgrade" to the Andromeda anytime soon.

Hi Malcuso, thanks a lot appreciate it. My reason for asking is, of course that I have the 846 (even with custom sleeves) and am considering of upgrading. Ideally, without getting into the K10 price range.
I also have the mojo, which s particularly high on my "fun/enjoyable" scale. So the Andromeda seems to be in a similar category.

I might have forgotten a few names in there, but if you think of a famous name feel free to include it in that love triangle of people.

I was intrigued by your use of the name- Muhammad Ghandi.

Gandhi would be turning in his grave if he wasn't actually cremated.

I did the custom sleeves with the 846 also. I think I talked myself into liking the 846 because it was so popular and it is a good sounding IEM. I tried all the MODs, and tips, and cables etc. I could only get the 846 to sound good on some recordings but not everything (ex. Litz cables made anything recorded in the early 80s sound terrible). The first listen to the Jupiter was just an explosive out of ear experience. Think HD 650 with more detail and better sound stage. Yep. It makes bad recordings sound good and great recording sound phenomenal. Sure it makes The Eagle acoustic Hotel California sound good. That recording sound good on anything. How does it play the Ramones? It rocks. It's a fun IEM, but shouldn't music be fun?

I read a lot of reviews on head fi saying how fun and dynamic the jupiter is. Speaking of fun, between the jupiter and the 846, which one is technically superior in your opinion?

Hmmm . . . technically superior? Not sure I'm qualified to answer that but I will say I've worked in recording studios for a brief period, toured with bands, and I understand flat eq and neutral response. I find most of the higher drivers on the bright / fatiguing side (and a little distorted with the exception of the JH Angies). These days I have a real job and commute 2 hours a day and fly to Asia every 6 weeks. I spend a lot of time (as I guess most of us do) looking for the right fit in sound and sonic performance. The Campfire sound is more reminiscent of sitting in someone's lively music room playing all your favorites for the first time. It's the kind of engaging sound that makes you want to listen to everything you own again. I told Ken the Jupiters ruined me. Before, the Audeze XC was high on my list of must haves.
Now . . . I'm good

with the emergence of FLC8S which cost 1/3 the price of the se846 and is more technically superior than the 846, it makes the Jupiter in a different league. imo, there is no debate over the 846 and jupiter on which is technically superior as jupiter is the clear winner here.

Loving the Jupiter.

Hopefully the new models make an appearance at the Tokyo show next week so I can try them out.

Did you timetravel to Regency period England for that pic? mp3 players must blow their minds.. only had MP1 back then
