If you are successful in convincing the shipper to mark the value down, then THAT will be the insurance cover, regardless of the actual value of the item.  So if you have a $5000 item marked down to $1000, then you will ONLY be covered for $1000.  The insurance value is NEVER more than the declared value.  And many shippers won't mark down value as it is considered to be tax fraud and can get the seller in big trouble.

I'm from the UK and bought my 009's via pricejapan, but I think posting whatever was on the invoice which would allow tax officers to see if they decided to go on head-fi, IMO would be a stupid thing to do.

The insurance protects the seller not the buyer.  If the item is lost or damaged, the buyer is just going to file a credit card chargeback.

I did, with pricejapan. No issue at all. Additionally, I probably sent them 3-4 emails and they answered all of them very promptly.

It's only been about a month for me, but I am in a similar situation. I have more than $1k on the line on Stax headphones, and PriceJapan refuses to reply to my emails or give me a shipping notice. I have the feeling that I'm not getting my order, or at least in any time that could be considered reasonable. I felt secure in purchasing through them, after reading all the great feedback that they have been heralded with here. Something dramatic has clearly happened since then. 
 
I recommend skipping PriceJapan at this point until they can prove that they still exist and use the good business practices that built them up in the first place.

You have to ship the items back to PriceJapan, who then ship them to STAX for warranty service.

That sounds like several weeks possibly a couple months of down time and close to a couple hundred in shipping. Is it that much savings over buying from a local dealer with a factory authorized local warranty service? I'm not raging on anyone I'm just curious whether it's really worth the savings or not. ....... Just a yoke clip repair on 009's is expensive. In fact almost nothing repaired on 009 is cheap.
