Have a similar set-up: Clip+ and ER4P. Also ~$200

It's really hard to beat the concept 'tiny player + decent IEMs'

Wouldn't say decent per se as either could probably hold their own against ones costing nearly $100 more than them (the HifiMAN RE252 are currently $199.00 USD new!).

hmm.. Does my rig qualifies as a budget-fi or not?
ipod touch/macbook pro -> behringer graphic equalizer (30$)-> behringer micro amp (40$) -> HD595 (200$)

Sure, they're heavy contenders at and around their price point, but in a world of Westone and JHA I will not go further than to call then 'decent'.

I would say the 0404PCI - 70's Kenwood Receiver - HD25-1 that I had been using for a couple years was pretty damn budget after I sold off my entire system to pay for getting married and such. Slowly upgrading once again...

WOW!! This a cool resurrection. What is low budget? PC>uDac>Little Dot1+>MS1's>TF10's. $100 for each piece. Killer sound!!!!

My portable's about as budget as it gets for the storage space.

$100 60GB iPod > $13 KSC75

Maybe in the future I'll get IEMs or something. In fact, I might in the summer when my parents will make me cut the grass.

My (semi) portable could be rightly described as budget:

Laptop --> (not counting price since I had it anyways)
-->NIE Dac/Amp combo: $40
-->Triple Fi 10s: $100 (Amazon)
-$140
