First impressions of the Z2¡¡
- In detail, it's a point better than Z1
- The soundstage is very nice: it's wider than Z1, but you don't feel the instruments too separated
- The soundfirm is... neutral, i mean, it doesn't rise any frequency, but it doesn't sound cold at all.

I like it so much, and I think it's an improvement over Z1

Are you comparing the two units to each other and using the same opamp?

I think many people would find the difference not enough to justify the swap. It's worth it to me, definitely, but I think it's such that nobody can guarantee that you'll feel the same. Fortunately it's not a terribly expensive experiment to see if it's worth it to you.

Z1 is dead silent at any volume level. My Z2 has a white noise background audible with sensitive earbuds (low impedance) or paused at high volume. Is it normal or did I get a dud?

Mine is dead silent with everything, curiously except HD 580, for which the pot is a little noisy in some positions. Quite odd.

I've got some other stufff to do and I also received today an xDuuo X3 DAP and two IEM, an RHA T20 and a Sony MDR EX-1000 so I am a bit overwhelmed you see.

Curious how z2 stacks up to the X3, spec wise, I am guessing the Z2 should take the lead, no?

Z2 has same AK4490 DAC chip as X10 while X3 uses CS4398 and as far as opamps I don't know all the specs.

I haven't listened to the X3 yet and only very briefly to the Z2 as USB DAC with my PC and can't comment yet on which sounds best to me between Z1, Z2, X3 and X10.

is the Z2 output impedance still not suitable for multi BA+DD Iem like Z1 or Walnut V2 ?

I'm using the Z1 with the KZ Z5s and it seems OK- as in no pops/hiss/crackles/poor SQ. Am I doing it wrong?

Oh so you have a xduoo x10 too, nice! I was choosing between x10 and Zishan DSD and went with the Zishan DSD because of AK4495S

I agree with that. The Monk Plus sound different than the rest of my phones.
I'm liking a lot the Z2.

Is my first DAC, what I need to use it with my phone?? , a special cable?

The description of the new Zishan Z2 says it has a 26V supply voltage.

Would this mean that it is not possible to use Muses02 opamp? The DS says max 18V.....

Edit. It's max +/-16V for the Muses02. And the Z2 is +/-13V. So Muses02 should be compatible. I just need to read the DS correctly.
