I've tried to use the Zalman clip on mic like most people suggested, and that was far too sensitive, and I couldn't even mute it. Then I got the Labtec LVA-7330 and I sawed off the headband and attached it to my headset with some industrial grade velcro like I saw Fragtality do, but that made my voice sound extremely far away and wasn't a good quality mic in general. So is there a better microphone that I can attach to my headset with Velcro?

?

What equipment are you using it with? I have the Labtec (attached to AD700's) with the Astro Mixamp on my PS3 and it sounds FANTASTIC. Way better then anything else I've used. It was so "in your face" that I had to crank the mic sensitivity (on the PS3) down to 1.

Play around with having the mic very close to your mouth. It's a boom mic so it needs to be fairly close.

I also wonder about the equipment you were using...can you adjust the mic level?
The AT ATR 35s gets good reviews...

Never really had a problem with the Astro mic, I could play with the Astro mic fairly far away. At any rate, where did you saw? I think I sawed a bit far up and heard some kind of crack which broke the rotation thing, it became very loose. :/

My equipment is the Astro Mixamp, AD700's and the Labtecs velcro'd to the side.

Same setup as me then. My mic is not loose though.....it stays right where i aim it. It does need to be close to your mouth for best performance though.
