BF3 is off the HOOK!

Yeah, I have perfect directional audio in every other game BUT the Battlefield series.  I always chalked it up to the Battlefield games, but I guess that isn't the case.  Most people I've talked to have complained about directional audio in BF games also, I even made a post on Battlelog about it with a fair bit of people agreeing with me but it was eventually locked when zh1nt0 went nuts and locked every thread that had solid criticism about the beta.

I guess we'll have to find out come Tuesday :/

PS I have both the Xonar Essence ST and Creative X-Fi Gamer (also had a X-Fi Titanium Fatality but flipped it as it didn't fit in the only available PCIX slot) and both HD700's and DT880 pros.  So I'll have to do a lot of playing come Tuesday if the Xonar / DT880 isn't working.

Interesting. That is strange to me. I have the gamer xtreme as well on my other rig and that also has perfect 3D imaging in BC2.. That is a strange one indeed..I know it is the same team that did the sound for BC2 that did the sound for BF3 and they will only improve on the realism in the sounds but not to have 3D positioning in a game that is truly important to have this feature is surprising to me and you are using both types of cards too. That is weird. Good luck to you and I hope that fixes itself out. I don't know if I would enjoy the game as much without having the sounds that I do.

Yup, its super frustrating everytime I get flanked without any audio cues, in BF3 I can hear the knife coming out, but then its already to late.  Yeah the game isn't very enjoyable without the same audio I'm used to in other games.  What about footsteps?  Do you hear players coming up behind you?  What about reloads?

There is a BF Blog video with the sound designer and he was saying that BF3 will have much cleaner sounds and be a lot easier to pin point audio queues, it;s a more accurate portrait.

I have several headphones I use with my Titanium HD. .My absolute favorite is the Samson SR850..Semi open Monitor phones.. I know there is a big debate here at headfi on what headphone to use and with what card. But for me. Nothing I have is better at positional sound.. Every footstep every little cue in sound perfectly represented on the Samson.. Many say the AD700 is best. Not with my experience...The Ad700 sounds a bit too spacy for my liking and too bass light.

Many say bass is not important to gaming sounds but without it the realism is not there. Guns are supposed to have a boom to them not a thud.  The samsons have a perfect balance of wide stage. Semi closed so sounds are more closer to the ear, to me way more accurate.. With this combo I can not only hear footsteps but I can hear them get louder when someone is close and softer when a team mate is running away..Very real.. I also emphasize the mids and highs using my eQ as well adding to the sounds. And upside down

frown EQ.  I can make out what direction a guy is shooting just by sounds. It is awesome.

For single player games I like even more bass so I will throw on my Panasonic HTF600s. The phone that is on my signature and enjoy more of a cinematic thx type sound with them.. Great for gaming. But for MP games my Samsons are the best I have.

Performance is significantly better than BETA with the new drivers (I'm sure other optimizations were incorporated since the BETA). I played the first 4 missions of the single player campaign - they definitely glossed over it; BFBC2 had a better single player campaign. No surprise, not a single server had an open slot last night. The one I did get in (40 players max) was lagged to hell. I'm hoping the server situation improves tonight.

If BC2's single player is better then BF3's... BF3's must be completely horrible.

I haven't installed bf3 yet, midterms on Thursday and Friday :(

BF3 singleplayer has been leaked and it kicks ass!!! I say the singleplayer itself is a tough competition to COD MW series. By the way, people buy BF3 for the multiplayer experience.

It leaked the day it came out?.. Also, the cod series singplayer's were horrible, imo. Medal of Honor, on the other hand, had a fantastic campaign, but craptastic online. Not that I particularly care about the single player in BF3, just a rather disheartening direction for DICE to take.

First impressions are great, the immersive experience is really quite amazing.

For anyone in Australia, you can buy the overseas versions and they will work just fine when linking it to your account, ~$38 compared to the highway robbery $80.

I both love it and hate it.

I get killed too often! Maybe I'm just getting old or there are too many hackers!

Bf3 beta makes me want to cry sometimes. Today I was point blank behind an enemy, unloaded 100 bullets into his back, he then turns around and shoots me once with a shotgun... and i die.

This is why I've kind of given up on online games, they all have lag no matter what it seems. . .

I think I've decided to buy Resistance 3 and Uncharted 3 eventually b/c they should have a good single player mode. FWIR the single player mode in BF3 is not good.

I'm sure the online in BF3 is great, just too frustrating for me.
