Beyerdynamic Xelento!

Isnt the tz700 slightly too bright? I bet that the Xelentos will be smoother on top.
I haven't noticed any overall brightness but find them to be tonally well balanced with a good sense of realism. They do, however, seem to fly under the radar on Head-Fi.

I’ll do a comparison later today or tomorrow. TZ700 definitely a hidden gem! Oh and absolutely not bright, very well balanced.

Let me quote @b000merang :"
I‘ve done it!
After listen to the TZ700 very intensely in a local store I chose to buy them and sell my Xelento.
I stay on Xelento tips because they are awesome. Also with TZ700, I get more open stage. These tips are crazy.
I made a few comparison listening sessions between both of them and there is more clarity/ highs on the Technics. Furthermore you got cleaner bass. Xelento a little undefined upper bass.
BUT: the bass on TZ700 is sometimes very heavy, which agrees with some frequency measurements I found out there in the web.
For some modern pop productions I have to acclimate with this heavy bass fundament, when I switch over from my Studio Headphones (Austrian Audio Hi-X60, also awesome!)
But for other productions, for example Jazz tracks it’s again very defined bass, so I think heavy bass is only there if it’s on the mix. Sometimes a little too much. But sometimes just right …
Fat HipHop tracks like „Get Low“ from Lil Jon never sounded that awesome to me like with these IEMs!"
But this obviously refers to the OG Xelentos.

I find that the sound of tz700 a little synthetic at times, treble extension not as much as I would expect. Cable swap/dac/amp pairing can fix them for me. It’s definitely top notch for single dd iems in such a small form factor. The only cons for me tho is that I don’t get a good fit with cables hanging over my ears (they tend to come off easily for me when fitted the normal way).

I’m very tempted to get a pair of Xelento 2 as well by how people are expressing their fabulous ergonomics and natural/warm tonality. How would any owners of Xelento 2 and tz700 would compare them in depth?

Sound wise I like TZ700 better, Xelento 2 is more comfy to wear for the long period of time. But again, I like over the ear fit more. Xelento is the best to sleep on the side and walk outside. The isolation is better then TZ700.

I still need to a/b X2 with TZ700 and a few others but I would say TZ700 more neutral/analytical vs X2, reference vs a more coloured and engaging tonality from X2. Not sure which I personally prefer, both excellent and offer different slants. But X2 100% better from an isolation and comfort perspective.

How do they do compared to Ikko OH5 Asgard? Aside from that there are so many budget single DD IEMs with good tuning and makes you wonder if it's worth to pay over 400$ for single DDs.

I think OH5 a smoother listen and shares that very emotive type of tuning. X2 definitely ahead in terms of soundstage and imaging, they are pretty fantastic in that regard. Indeed though, diminishing returns is absolutely evident the more you spend! I’m not a fan of the OH5 shells, they do cause me some discomfort after a while, and I really dislike the stock cable as it’s very thick, heavy and not ideal from a portable perspective.

What would be a decent bluetooth module to use with the Xelento? I'm almost always wired in, except on long journeys where my phone at some point needs recharging, so having a bluetooth module would come in handy as I can then charge my phone and keep listening.

A bluetooth module with a long battery life, which also doubles as a wired DAC would be ideal, as then it can be used wired for full sound quality then once the phone needs recharging switch to wireless.

ifi go blu or btr7 maybe?
I own BTR7, Go Blu, Qudelix, ES100MKII ... and waiting next monday for a shaling UP4 2022 :
BTR7 => very nice sound, very poor battery playing time (5 to 6 hours with Xelento)
Go BLu => 3 of these were killed in 15 months due to unacceptable USB-C power protection with many chargers (probably almost no protection with high speed chargers) .. sound is very good too and playing time probably the best for such weight and power with 10 to 12hours
Qudelix => no so bad sound quality, with 8 to 9 hours playing time with Xelento 1 (I using this these last weeks)
ES100MKII => the weakest of all of these .. not really impressive with the Xelento
I will see very soon with the Shanling UP4 2022 .. but I have no big expectations with this one too concerning battery playing time..
