Beyerdynamic Xelento!

My Xelento 2 arrived on Wednesday, I had great intentions of putting them away until Christmas, but lack of willpower got the better of me and I only lasted 24 hours before opening them! Very impressed so far - less resolving versus IE900, but I would say with more forward mids and comparitively subdued treble, a more overall engaging listen - bass is very impressive also. Oh and that imaging, wow! Early days, but off to a great start.

I really dont want to spoil this topic but i really would like to encourage people to try the Monarch 2. Ive had a short audition with the Xelento 2 and it honestly it doesnt even come close to the Monarch 2. The Xelentos OG and 2 are a great V shaped iems, but if someone really cares about the the real sound reproduction of the library, there are better optionsin this price. If the Xelento 2 costs 1k bucks, then, quality wise, the Monarchs 2 should cost 2-3k euros.
The Xelentos are fun, i get it, but for a more advance listening just get the Monarch 2 and thank me later. No offence here, just talking through my experience, trying to be helpful.

This is a highly subjective hobby, Monarch 2 may well be more to your taste versus Xelento 2, but it certainly does not mean that will be the case for others, nor does it mean the price multiple you’ve suggested is grounded in reality.

I’ll be sure to give it a listen though if the opportunity arises, and hear how it compares to other multi drivers I own or have owned… like any set, I’ve read mixed reports.

Ladies and gentlemen, I have a question for you:
I've been using the Xelento for 7 months now and had to initiate a warranty replacement due to a humming sound on the left side.
With the new pair, whenever I yawn or chew, there is sudden silence on both sides. The agent said the problem and couldn't replace it.
I wonder if you ladies and gentlemen have encountered such a problem (silent), and how to improve it.

The headphone cable I use is Pentaccon nox, 4.4 balanced.
There is no such problem with the original factory cable.

Thanks.

It's only happening with the pentacon cable? I guess it must be the connection is rubbing against your ear. If it doesn't happen with the original cable I don't think they are faulty.

I thought it could be your ear canals constricting when yawning or chewing. A simar thing happens to me where the sound reduces during eating, or the tips start to work lose, same with yawning, but this would happen regardless of cable.

I think this is the first report I've seen of a faulty set (the humming issue) but I guess it must happen time to time. Was the issue also using an aftermarket cable?

I’m really enjoying them, they are less resolving vs say IE900, but I’m finding them more euphoric and engaging… plus the imaging is really fantastic. Oh and incredibly comfortable too. My top choice portable solution at the moment paired with the P6K DAP.

Any chance for a few comparisons between the Xelento 2 and TZ700 (currently #1 in my collection).
