Beyerdynamic Xelento!

I just listened an hour and a half on the Xelento's brand new out of the box. They indeed are tiny and my second thought was why did it have to be a chrome finish, matt black would of been so much nicer imho.
I tried the XXL tips first but I discovered soon that of all the tips supplied the XL's suit me the best. I broke one of the XXL's already. (not used to tip rolling)
The comply's aren't bad but my initial impression was that the middle sized one damped the bass considerably for me while the smaller and the bigger one didn't seal properly, but I have to give them a second try later.
Also, with the XXL's non-comply I think they were too bright probably because of a bad seal. With the XL's I fixed that problem for me.
I'm used to deep insertion and these just rest inside your ears and with the right tip stay beautifully snug. Isolation is much worse than I'm used to indeed, but not a problem for me since I mostly listen on my terrace.

Sound is done with Ipod + Mojo + Vorzuge Pure II.

Initially coming from an 8.2 I was impressed with the stage. Pretty good and better separation compared to the 8.2 with a better sense of realism in the upper midrange.
Speed is not up to snuff with the 8.2 but it's not miles behind either, I like the bass of the Xelento better for electronics. These are two different beasts really.
For my genres my initial thought is that the Xelento is going to suit me well but I'll have to do more listening before I can call final judgment.
Still it already shows it is an incredible performer that has surprised me a couple of times already with music I know pretty well.
I'm going to enjoy this.

Glad to hear that you're having so much fun in there!

Well, that clears that. I think the comply's might give the best isolation but I still have to try them again since my initial impression wasn't great. Are there other tips I could try to experiment?

Comply tips might not help all that much with the isolation, because of the vent ports on these IEMs. I think they're best used in a quieter environment.

FWIW, my favorite tips with the Xelentos are the SpinFit CP100.

Quick question. Is it normal to still easily hear your environment when they're in place?
With my much cheaper RHA's I have an excellent seal, I've tried those eartips already to no avail.

I use medium size Spinfit, and it isolates pretty well. It does better than my custom Angie does. For my ears, the tips go really deep and blocks outside noise very well. The enclosed Comply tips does well, too, but they hurt my ears, and I like the sound better with Spinfit.
Some say Spiral Dot works well, too, but I never tried that.

I think you have to personally test it yourself, it will depend on individual, everone one has different size and shape ears, so which tip is better for islotation is subjective, but the comply foam tip is one for total isolation as it was made to go inside the ear, but many people including me find it uncomfortable, i personal like the supplied oval tips as it rest just outside the ears, and the spinfit is accepable to.

I am sorry to say this, but I cannot use comply at all.

When it comes to Xelento, I actually like their supplied tips quite a lot!

For those who has the Xelento remote, can you comment if the supplied case is real leather and the quality, I have just received a call from beyerdynamic's agent from my country, that they have received a case that I ordered, the reason I asked is that I have the Xelento wired, which is the first generation version, the supplied case (same case as the AKT8ie MKII), although leather and very good quality, it rather small. The new case cost me approximate USD 50 and it will be sometime early October before I can collect it.

I borrowed a friends comply, I don't like it either, my three sets is still sealed in the wrapper not opened, i'm also using the supplied oval one medium size, probably just get another spare set for backup in early October when I collect my case..

That can't be said often enough!

A couple of issues to be aware of with foam - 1) it tends to roll off the treble 2) it will never isolate a vented/ported IEM.

My girlfriend and I don't believe it's real leather, but the quality of the case is excellent, it's just too big to carry around in my opinion.
